Quick!
Give me your best 80's sword and sorcery movies!
There's a strange kind of captivating innocence about them. Watching them is much like reliving some old childhood adventure.

Not op, but stealing this as we speak, thanks familj
Not my favorite, but a guilty pleasure. A remake of Yojimbo set in barbarian era. The Chick with 4 tetas always makes me smile.
Willow

Joanne Whalley..mmmmmm
>Movies will never again be 90 minutes long with muscle-bound aryan heroes going on an adventure, saving a princess and then killing the villain along with a dozen of henchmen
>No sequels, no forced drama, no SJW bullshit, just pure fucking entertainment
Why hasn't this been posted yet?

But Beastmaster was played by a jew.

I remember the first time I saw the princess. With those beautiful big eyes she looked like she came straight out of anime or something.

Hawk the Slayer, it may well remain the best film I'll see this year.

For sheer cheese delight for me it's Yor.

Legend.
Hearts and Armour (1983)
Red Sonja
The scenic shots alone are worth it

Also the Morricone score

My favorite is the straight shota subtext in that scene where she trains the boy.

Willow is my fav fantasy movie of all time.It is pure gold.
>>64669992
Mad Martigan spends entirely too much time in drag.
>>64669308
this is the beginning and end of the thread, there is no greater sword and sworcery epic.

Too bad people today don't want earnest pulp. Pulp today must always be steeped in irony.
How about pic related?

My ONLY problem is that the movie covers too many plot points for its run-time.
There is enough in this movie to split it into Uther's fall and the rise of arthur, and then make a Quest for the Grail/green knight movie.
I really want a great Quest for the holy grail movie.
>>64670233
Deserved a better franchise.
>>64670233
Bretty gud, even if the lead guy is pretty weak. The Queen soundtrack gave me feels.
Heard the sequel is shit though.
>>64670233
It is.
the Dark Crystal.
probably the best puppetry movie we'll ever see and Jim Hensons crowning glory. its not aged a day
>>64670235
well thats what makes it an epic, trilogies werent a thing at the time. wait this was before star wars right? I feel what you mean though its jam packed.
Flesh+Blood was pretty decent too, but mostly because based Rutger Hauer carries it.

I think LOTR has remedied this a bit, but it feels like we're going back into that territory that anything too "weird" for people to understand must be accompanied by loads of tongue in cheek irony and comedy so as to acknowledge that the movie knows it's weird.

I agree with you. I feel like an asshole even suggesting something like that, but I meant that in the movie released you could cut it into two movies. Maybe 20 minutes of footage of peasants and knights in armor milling around here and there to pad out the runtime.
Like I said though, its a MINOR MINOR MINOR complaint I have for an otherwise perfect movie.
Maybe also the actor for arthur. I can't help but seeing him as John from a Lion in Winter who is the opposite of a king arthur type.
