I had the same issue with my first viewing that Jay and Mike had. I never once thought about how important a good projection operator was till that happened, though our experience was a bit worse to where people actually went to get staff about 20 minutes in, we were given refunds or tickets to another viewing, which was done by another guy, and it was fucking perfect.
