Actually one of my favorite small examples of acting. When most actors close their eyes during an emotional moment, they're clearly trying to tap into something internal to force tears. Here, it genuinely looks like he's trying to hold back tears like a father would. We give Nolan a hard time but this is a genuinely great emotional moment.
