Does anyone come closer to the performances he has given?
>>
>>64645126
He's great and has incredible range, but if you look at his roles individually they aren't as amazing

But yeah if you compare him in lincoln and there will be blood he looks amazing
>>
He is likely the best. The only ones in his range are Brando, Gregory Peck, or Streep.
>>
He gives me hope as a fellow autist.

Imagine he's replaced with Ralph Fiennes for every role except Lincoln and Gangs on New York
Now ask yourself if you still think he's the greatest actor ever

Let's face it, Di Caprio is better

A lot of people on this board seem to think faking an accent suddenly makes your performance gold.
>>
Has anyone seen any of his movies besides There Will be Blood, Gangs of New York, and Lincoln?
He's only good in over the top roles where he can pretend he's on a stage
He literally doesn't know how to act like a normal person

Yeah, I was gonna come in and throw Brando out there as a contender (well, he could have been a contender).

Ol' Atticus and Meryl Streep are legit suggestions. I would put Robert DeNiro in there too. It's easy to dismiss him since he gives zero fucks these days and takes the steamiest piles of shit roles, but the first half of his career was one brilliant performance after the other.
>>
>>64645546
He's good in my left foot. And in the name of the father which I doubt anyone on here has seen
>>
>>64645315
Despite him being wrapped up in Star Wars and being remembered for that, I would put Guinness on that list too.

When will plebs stop falling for this dank meme? Method acting is nothing more than a crutch used by mediocre actors to trick audiences into thinking they're better than they are. The genuine greats don't need to stay in character 24 hours a day like some raging autist. They understand what acting is and they know how to simply turn it on and off.

>>
>>64652520
Eh, there are some things that you can't make authentic unless you literally live the character
Also gaining or losing weight counts as method acting

That said you could achieve a lot more by doing drugs before a shoot to change your entire demeanor
>>
>>64645126
honestly i have not seen him in a good performance yet. last of the mohicans is almost unbearable because of hiim and TWBB was pretty meh
>>
>>64652644
That's because you don't understand how acting works. You've been conditioned to only enjoy modern Hollywood acting, which is "Do as the director says and pretend the camera isn't there" It takes zero talent. Maybe a few years to perfect it, but any old schmuck or famous person's kid can easily become one

Real acting is exaggerated motions, loud cries, delivery, and the art of story telling. When you're this type of actor, every movement tells a story. It's not something a hoplite would understand really...only a patrician would understand it. Only few actors nowadays do it.

Here, watch a few clips

Method acting used to entail research, like how a competent writer would for a story, it's devolved into self important nonsense.

The most overrated actor of all time.

Always on the verge to overacting. Always goes for as much severety as possible, not a comedic bone in his body. And he seems like a borderline psychopath with his ridiculous, years-long preparations for roles.

His choices of "challenging", severe roles always leads him to those overly serious Oscar-bait movies, that everyone watches once and then forgets about (only exception being TWBB).

People talk about his dedication, range and skill, but never about the actual character he portrays. He makes them feel alive, but NEVER three-dimensional, like realistic comic-characters.

He's more of a stand-alone gimmick, than anything else.

Also ZERO charisma.
