ITT: Movies that should've been shorter

If you stop watching it when De Niro ditches Judging Amy you'll save some time and you can pretend he got away and that Heat had a good ending
>>64635985
There were atleast 4 people in the with their own story arcs. It takes a minute or two.
>>64635985
Everything after the wedding was completely unnecessary.

i cry evrytiem
>>64635985
Should have been 3 hours of loli herschlag in the tub tbqh
There is literally no reason for a movie to ever be more than 2 hours long
>>64635985
take all the women out of the movie, and it would have been fantastic.
it would instantly shoot from a 4/10 to 8/10.
Django could have been a solid hour shorter

>he dislikes horse dancing films

>>64635985
I've always said this and I'll say it again: Heat should have been an 8-part miniseries. There was just too much shit crammed in the movie that they could have expanded on like the Portman suicide attempt or the relationship between De Niro and that chick.
>2 hours, 45 minutes
Literally. No exaggeration or meming.
>>64635985
Literally all of them. It's 2016 I mean really we've got Youtube and shit, ain't nobody got time for 120+ mins.
Give me one reason every scene with Matt Damon's character shouldn't have been cut other than Americans can't understand a movie with no bad guy
i would post the hobbit but i wont
JFK with kevin costner was too long for me
>>64635985
That movie had the right length.
>>64635985
I completely agree. Everybody lauds it as one of the greatest heist films but it just keeps dragging on, and I typically like long movies.
>>64636945
Those scenes were unnecessary in retrospect but they didn't make the movie worse (or better). They added another aspect, didn't damage the pacing and were on par in quality with the rest of the movie. At no point while watching it did I wish those scenes were gone. If your goal was to cut 15 minutes or whatever from the movie, sure they'd be the first to go. But Interstellar was a good length.
Any movie that exceeds 2hrs and 30mins is too long
It's been a while since I've seen this in it's full lenght now, but I remember it being chock full of filler. Like everything that had to do with Elizabeth and those memeriffic scenes with the multiple Jacks.
>>64635985
The worst part about Heist movies is that the heists are the best part and people actually watch it for the heists, then they end up being done in 5 minutes and the film is on dire need of filler and plot, in Manns case, I think he always thought of some great master plan and scripted all that shit meticulously and then found himself in the situation that the heist is the only thing he's got, and now he has to make up other problems.

>when Michael Mann is literally 2deep4u
what the fuck
>>64636827
this for sure. fucking awful.
>>64636754
Mann films always sort of feel this way. Blackhat in particular stood out to me; it's one of my favorites of the year, but if I'd been able to spend 6 episodes with those characters, man oh man.
>>64635985
Every Major film since LOTR that's been over 2 hours
>>64637743
And they still cut out an important story part over the meme actor Depp.
I agree that if they just shaved Depp's antics, Elizabeth's armada bullshit, and playing Liar's Dice, it would have been better and not such a horrible drag of a movie.
>>64637250
True, but any film or cinéma with a runtime any shorter than that goes straight into the trash.
>>64636416
Even two hours is pushing it. I miss 90 minutes being the standard.
>>64637912
You are memeing, right? Heat is not a Heist movie, it's a fucking crime drama you mong. It has one of the best heist scenes, sure, but you watch this kind of movie for the story and characters, not the fucking action.
>>64635985
Millenials have notoriously short attention spans.
Anything by Scorsese except Taxi Driver
>>64642326
It's not about attention span. You can stay engaged with a film but still think it is overlong or excessive.
And it seems to be a recent trend of the 21st century to try turn everything into a great epic. Less is more.
Hey slick, the whole appeal of Heat is the sprawling maximalism.
>For me, the action IS the juice.
>>64635985
> Movies that should have been shorter
Every single movie I din't like
> Movies that should have been longer
Every single movie that I liked
>>64642413
I think The Departed would benefit from a longer cut.
>>64636479
Yeah, once the cat's out of the bag near the end, the movie becomes quite uninteresting.
This gets really good in the last act, but it sure drags before that. You can cut at least half an hour before he meets the angel.
>>64642462
Precisely, the tale itself is so bold that you need that length.
Get rid of all the relationship drama and this could be decent.
There was no reason for this to be over three hours.
>>64642982
This. It's far too bloated for pulp. That he made an extended edition is even more retarded.
>>64643007
How is this his eighth film? Kill Bill is not one movie.
>>64643055
it is according to him
>>64642982
>that entire boat scene
I seriously thought they were going to cut half the movie out for a part 2. This movie made my dad and I check the runtime before going in.
>>64643163
The jungle part was the one that bothered me the most. It went on forever.
>>64642982
I love it, it felt like a true epic, which is something we don't see anymore.
>>64643055
Yes, it is. The Weinsteins just split it into 2 movies because releasing a 5 hour movie isn't realistic. Also, money, Jews, etc.
>>64642982
I never have had to hold a piss as bad I had to when seeing this. I still like the movie though.
>>64642982
This movie is great, fuck off.
>>64636827
Should have cut that retarded sequence of the Dinobots running away from a giant space magnet. Could have saved 20 minutes and $15 million of the budget right there.
>>64642982
They kept the entire movie going on pace with action and character developement. Nothing felt like filler so I don't think this was too long, just a long film
>>64643320
Eh, maybe if it was 30 minutes shorter.
>>64636416
>>64642135
Get out, pleb fucking shits.
