That Jane is one hot piece of ace!
>>
>>64635032
I think either Natalie Dormer or Anne Hathaway would make a really great live action Jane.
>>
>>64635007
The Jungle Book is my favorite movie of all time, well, that and Akira.
>>
>>64635115
what do you think of the new, almost entirely CGI jungle book? it looks kinda shitty to me which sucks cause I love Jon Favreau.
>>
>>64635075
Natalie Dormer would be great.
>>
>>64635150
Margot Robbie is playing Jane in the new one and idk I like her but she doesnt really seem like a Jane. Dormer is British and just seems polished, I could see her pulling it off easy.

I'm excited. It does look a little shit, but I'm still excited.
The animals are really big and my theory is that it was done for stylistic reasons, so the animals are as big as they seem to Mowgli.
The cast is really fantastic and apparently the Sherman Brothers are returning to write 14 new songs.

Outside the 'Make a man out of you' song, I can't really think of any memorable Mulan songs.

>>64637205
Frozen is rated lower than Lion King by critics, has fewer Academy nods and like Lion King is first place grossing in its animation field. So, is it a good movie? Apparently. But by those same metrics, Lion King is still better.
>>
>>64637214
foreign movies of any kind have a harder time winning american awards

plus there's entire articles about how bullshit voting is with the Animation Oscar, the very fact that something like Song of the Sea got beat by BH6 is crazy. Only reason why Spirited Away won was because Disney could benefit from it

Frozen is computer animation. If you include those, Toy Story 3 and Minions both made over a billion.

And the list IS adjusted for inflation. It's why a movie from the 1930's got #6.
>>

>quantifiable metrics

on the pleb-meter maybe. The only thing those tell you is that a movie was popular. I bet you think music is good if it sells a lot and wins grammies, ya fucking dolt. I'm not saying a film is bad because it's popular and wins awards, but it's not necessarily a mark of quality either.

Until you magic a fourth metric up that meets your standards, commercial success, critical review and award recognition are the only tangible metrics for a movie being good. Pissing and moaning won't change it.

They were actually planning to do a tv series, but then some producer changed his mind and said he wanted a movie, so they just sort of glued three or four episodes together and called it a movie. For the second one that is. Don't know about the third.
>>
>>64638023
Box office is determined by the number of people other than you who went to see it. Critical reviews are the voices of what other people thought about it. Awards are votes cast by a committy of people that doesn't include you.

Using that as a talking point is nonsense. Anyone can access that information at any time. It doesn't change how you perceive a film or how a film made you feel, you dummy.

And if public opinion can sway how you think, then you're free to fuck yourself, I guess.
>>
>>64638023
Why are you even here? To point out which movie made more money than the other? I can just google that shit. Why even have a film board at all then when all we need is a sticky that says OFFICIAL AND OBJECTIVE RANKING OF ALL FILMS with a link to the wikipedia page for highest-grossing films of all time?
>>
>>64638023
Or like you know, we could like, you know, look at shit lik originality, execution, if the movie has anything to say and if so, does it say it well, how it has aged over time and so on. You know, like, not just like, did it appeal to the masses, you know.

The lack of Hunchback of Notre Dame in here is sad. It came at a bad time and didn't get the attention it deserved. Other than the shitty Gargoyles, it was a stellar movie. Great songs, beautiful animation, a proper creepster villain, legit drama... It's quite different from the novel, but in some of those ways better honestly.
