Nah, the first sequel was pretty good. Curse of the Black Pearl was a 10/10, the perfect adventure film. It's one of those epic scoped generational films like Jurassic Park.
Dead Man's Chest was a 9/10. You had to suspend disbelief at some 'making this up as we go along' parts, like Bootstrap Will being on Davy Jones's boat, Sparrow secretly having a deal with Davy Jones from years before, etc etc. But man, all the new elements were really fresh and great. Davy Jones himself still looks better than modern CGI and the Kraken was fantastic.
At World's End was a 5/10. No one likes movies that were split in half and the handwaving they did between films was shit. Davy Jones was an unstoppable threat at the end of the last movie, then between movies he was a neutered bitchboy and was never a threat again. The unstoppable Kraken? How would they deal with that!? Oh, he was killed offscreen between movies. And then the ending was shit too. 'Will Turner becomes Davy Jones XDDDD'. Not to mention 'Look guys, Keith Richards is his dad! That's who Johnny Depp based his character on! XDDDD' I mean, overall it wasn't bad, but compared to the two earlier entries it suffers badly.
On Stranger Tides was a 3/10 obvious cashgrab on the success of the trilogy with forgettable characters, non-existent stakes and a plot you forgot hours after watching it.

They're different than the first, sure, but if you watch them knowing that and not expecting something similar to Curse, they're fucking amazing action/adventure movies.
