2003 makes more sense to be canon bc it bascially leads right into ROTS, but 2008 has a lot more lore and original characters. Both are good for different reasons I suppose. Ultimately I think 2003 was cooler. Grevious and Durge were fucking awesome, and the relationship between most of the main characters felt pretty real and close to the movies.

The show got a boost in production value, so the animation becomes much more high quality. Ahsoka matures more and begins to be a likeable character instead of a know-it-all brat (she was one of my favorites by season 5), and the show starts to test the limits of just how much shit it can get away with. Overall, it just becomes a much more solid show after the first two seasons, I really ended up enjoying it.

Also, sheev chokes 4 mandalorians to death, two of them get pulled up a wall while their grasping for their throats. Theres a flump sound as they both hit the ground. Sheev has a ghastly lightsaber battle that ends with a character getting stabbed twice and thrown off a building. Following this another character is tortured with force lightning until the episode cuts to black.

At the end of season 5 Ahsoka is framed for terrorism and mass murder, and about to be executed by the jedi order. Anakin is sent to recapture her after she escapes, and Ahsoka has to team up with a war criminal to avoid capture.
In season 6 clones start going insane and a jedi gets assassinated on screen.
