In general, people who hate the prequels take Star Wars way, way too seriously. They had bought into the hype that the original Star Wars films (especially Empire) were these masterpieces when they're really just good movies.
So when the prequels came out and were just good movies like the originals, they failed to live up to these unrealistic expectations, and so cries of "Lucas ruined my childhood" rang throughout the Internet.
The Force Awakens doesn't get shit on (for the most part, people here seem to hate it but it's beloved everywhere else) because the prequels lowered the expectations of these people. Literally, everyone who loved this new one was like "it's at least better than the prequels."

Because not only the place feels out of place in a hyperfuturistic setting such as Coruscant, it was also a completely useless scene.
It is too unbelievable that only one of Obi-Wan's friends (and a character who we have never seem before) knows the location of Kamino. Obi-Wan could have find out the missing information in any other place. Maybe he could have chased a small villain who had the information, he could have inspected some place such an office or whatever. Instead, Lucas just wanted to make an homage to American Graffitti and his beloved 50's, so he inserted that scene in an arc that was ultimately left unresolved.

really bugged me he was a basilisk and his robos name was hermione... just seemed like lucas was reading harry potter to his kids and decided to add some references into star wars which simply doesnt need them. And the diner seems to be referencing american graffiti which makes a bit more sense to nod towards but a 50's diner doesnt fit well into star wars, plus the cgi was bad and...well the whole scene just feels "off" even more so than so much of the prequels which don't feel like star wars this scene especially doesn't, its almost bizarre obi wan is standing in this setting.
jabbas palace has the seedy gangster feeling without simply being a scene from the godfather but with luke and r2d2 hanging out... a diner guy who obi wan gets info from is a fine idea but you can't just do a 50's diner you have to figure out what that looks like in the star wars world like jabba to an old mafia guy, dexter and his diner sadly do not pull off that transition and just look like a weird alien guy in a diner... also once again why the hell reference harry potter here or at all in star wars???
