Can we all agree that Guardians of the Galaxy was better than Star Wars?

Star wars had a lot of failed jokes in attempt to pretend it wasn't taking itself too seriously like GoG, but that was ruined because all the "THE FORCE IS REAL" dialogue.

Guardians of the Galaxy also had
-better written characters
-Better soundtrack
-funny jokes
-no race mixing

Pretty sure memelord was fucking aliens, including a black green lady, through the whole movie.

GOTG was a meme comedy so it had an excuse to be a Marvel Movie. Star Wars should've never felt like a marvel movie but it did

So what you said is true , from a certain point of view
>>
Probably, i dunno. TFA was pretty good, but GoTG is a bit better.
>>
>>64550993
The soundtrack was fine.
>>
I'm the kind of person that can be put off a film by one line.
GotG had several, most notably 'meme off'.

Bait
>>
>>64550820
It was better jj even admitted that guardians did everything TFA tried to do when guardians came out. But /tv/ can't like something because it's popular
>>
>>64550820
It's painfully obvious you're under 25.
>>
I don't care what anybody on here says, I've defended GotG in every thread since I saw it in theaters. I thought it was fucking great. It's not an amazing film. But it is an amazingly entertaining flick. I eagerly await the second one.

When I walked out of Star Wars, my first thought was that it wasn't as good as Guardians. Something about the movie just depressed me, and it wasn't the big death. I had to really stew on it to pinpoint it, but I guess it was how literally the heroes of the OT achieved nothing and their lives were complete garbage after Jedi.

The main difference to me was GotG was obviously padded with action to make it a nonstop type movie. Star Wars had the same general idea, but the action felt a lot more like filler, not vital to the plot.
>>
They were both kids shit with cringe worthy humor.

I only liked TFA better because it didn't have CG main characters and a forced romance sideplot.

>Can we all agree that Guardians of the Memery was better than Meme Wars?
Fuck off back to reddit, memeboy.
I didn't see either of these btw. I don't even watch movies anymore, literally can't remember when I watched a movie last time. I just come here to meme tbqh.

GotG 8/10
TFA 6/10

TFA was visually impressive, but lacked originality. This was my main gripe with the film. GoG was at least fun to watch because I couldn't predict how things would occur.

I liked a lot of mainstream/cult movies when I used to watch movies. Artsy movies always bored me. Now all movies bore me. My attention span is about 2 minutes. In fact I'm listening to Opie and Anthony while shitposting while jerking it to GirlsDoPorn while eating junk food.
>>
I knew this moment would come.

It was better.

I'm generally not interested in plebeian Marvel movies, but I watched Guardians on a boring afternoon and it did the job quite well. It entertained me and it gave me a couple of laughs.

Pretty far from memorable but it was ok. I got what I expected. I can't say the same about TFA.

TFA failed on several planes:
First, being a Star Wars movie. The tone of the film is all Marvel-like. It's incredible how even copying the plot from ANH, sharing actors and characters, getting to see the same ships and all, you still can get out of the cinema with the feel that you haven't actually seen a Star Wars movie.
Second, telling you a story. It's not that JJ fails to tell a story, it's that there's no story at all. The plot being a copy of ANH doesn't help at all, because that one you already know. And the few 'new' elements are drowned between action scene and action scene.
Third, building tension and making the audience be interested about the movie. It's not that it's boring, because it's quite entertaining. It's just that everything is so predictable (Han's death, the death star blowing up, etc.) there's no tension at all. And that stupid pace, action scene after action scene, make you don't give a fuck about the characters or aything that's happening at all. It's just like 'ok i'm here watching cool effects'. In the end I don't give a fuck if it's the space nazis or the multiculti redditance that wins. JJ even managed for me not to give a fuck about Han's death. I was more worried about how bad the scene was than what actually happened there.

I could be writting all day long.

Guardians was overrated as hell, but at least it was still a well-made movie that was fun. I can sit down and watch and enjoy it even if I get tired of people who act like it was the second coming (i.e. people on reddit).

Star Wars VII was none of this. It was just plain awful.

TFA felt like a reboot of episode 4. Like the same general idea doing the same kind of things, just different specifics. Sort of like Jurassic World and Jurassic Park, except Jurassic World was actually fun to watch.

When I watched Guardians of the Galaxy, it was a theater rip that included the audiences reactions. Then I tried to re-watch it on DVD, and it felt too lonely to finish. DAE think movies should come with laugh tracks?
>>
So in Guardians of the Galaxy we get:
1. A shitty villain that is easily disposed of.
2. Lotsa quips, even when inappropriate.
3. Yet another floating object of doom that will crash on poor people.

And this is considered to be among the best Marvel films?
>>
>>64550820
no, the dance off ruined the film
>>
>>64550820
At least Rey doesn't challenge Kylo to a dance off. TFA is automatically the better film purely because of that.

I unironically think this is a fun parody.

I mean there's Star Wars Chess and shit, it's not supposed to be canon or serious.

The problem here is that the original game (think it was Just Dance?) isn't very good, and they just renamed all the moves to sound Star Wars-y. They could have done more.

Everything in the Star Wars Universe was cannon, but after Disney came around, they redefined cannon to mean "Only the works which George Lucas was directly involved in".
That just happens to include this game

You don't know what canon means

>>
>>64551819

I dont think it was visually impressive, save for the star destroyer on Jakku.

All the planets are forgettable, they look like tv sets, and are in what could be plain Eearth.

At least the prequels had impressive planets and backgrouds with cool architecture, like that city inside a pit in Utapau or the beautiful Theed in Naboo.
>>
>>64554766

Too action focused, mary sue Rey (like mary sue Marvel heroes), color filters (this is more important than it seems), lack of character development... etc...

Also the random coincidences that are basically the driving force of the plot.

The death star 3 also looked like some Marvel capeshit stuff. Too big and absurd and unrealistic even for a Star Wars film.
>>
>>64550820
>Can we all agree that Guardians of the Galaxy was better than Star Wars?
Yes
>>
>>64558894
Actually, there were multiple tiers of canon.

Some stuff was more canon than others.
>>
>>64559405

It also felt more like watching Star Wars for the first time, hype-wise.

I read a lot of comics but the GOTG was not a group I knew, so it was all fresh to me. Gunn made a movie that had his fingerprints all over it and it was a very fun watch. Now its memory is tainted by the memeiness, but that's besides the point.

Star Wars: The Force's Greatest Hits felt hollow, and lacked heart. It was the first time I felt I was watching something completely designed by committee, for children and nostalgic losers.

So you never saw Jurassic World? Because that was even worse.
