Thoughts?
>>
Haven't seen yet, but I've read the book and the casting couldn't be better
>>
Really meh. The score, cinematography and acting are decent, and there were a few scenes that really worked, but that's all that can be said.
>>
>>64531834
The score was more than "decent" imo. It was one of the best things about the movie. Considering the budget, you can tell they took a lot of care with it.
>>
>>64531739
I really think Rooney will snag the oscar for this one.
>>
>>64531739
looks really good have plans to see it this week
>>
>>64532030
Alone or with friends?
>>
>>64532049
alone, i dont really like going with people, helps me focus on the movie
>>
>>64531991

nah

it's going to be Larson or Ronan
>>
>>64532195
Good choice. I wouldn't mind going to see this again alone.

I saw it with a friend and his gf and I don't know either of them well. Surprisingly it was still a great experience. The sex scenes were a little awkward though.
>>
Post the webm. Now.
>>
>>64532223
Not talking about Lead Actress, friend.
>>
>>64532330

oh right I forgot about that disgusting category fraud. I can't believe Rooney will be in supporting, totally ludicrous
>>
>>64532223
Sure they'll put Blanchett in for Lead and Roo in for Supporting.

Anyway, I loved it. The cinematography, score and acting were brilliant; Blanchett is surely one of the best actors alive although Rooney was also great. The ending was also fantastic; all the more emotional for how downplayed it was

Meh, it's kind of like a junior oscar. Lead is where it's at though. She should get one if she keeps putting out the performances.
>>
>>64532635

yeah I'm glad she's proving herself. I still remember being blown away by her during that first scene of The Social Network and wondering who the hell this girl even was
>>
>>64532815
She was a hit on /tv/ just from TSN trailer snippet where she has tears in her eyes.
>>
i liked this movie a lot but i did not like the score. it kind of distracted me from what the characters were doing/feeling in parts.
>>
>>64532970

I actually thought the score was one of my favourite aspects of the movie, it was pretty pervasive though so if you didn't like the music I could see how it could be distracting.

an earlier movie by Haynes called Safe has almost no scenes at all set to a score
>>
>>64532970
What? The score worked very well, especially at the end. Leaves you wanting more for sure.

Been listening to some of the songs on Spotify
>>
>>64533049
Speaking of Haynes, is Mildred Pierce with Kate Winslet worth watching? He directed that, too.

>you will never a qt Rooney or a saucy cougar Blanchett
>>
>>64533118

yes, it's incredible.

I think Haynes is one of the 3 or 4 best directors in America currently and every single thing he's made is amazing. If you haven't seen I'm Not There and Far From Heaven prepare yourself for those too.

But yeah, Mildred Pierce is great and the book it's based on is too.

really really loved it. was surprised actually, going into it i was expecting nothing, maybe even to not like it but i was floored. i've since seen it three times, gets better every time.

rooney is also clearly the lead and clearly better/best.

tfw Carol wasn't made with RoonRoon and a CGI Roman Holiday era Audrey Hepburn
>>
>>64533898

that would have sucked. movie requires Blanchett's chilly, dominating personality
>>
>>64533552
Fucking amazing
>>
>>64533935
Absolute agreement, there. Fantastic movie, saw last night and want to see again.
>>
>>64532195
Any tips for first-timers, with anxiety and stuff? I actually missed the Hateful Eight and wasted my ticket because as soon as I got up to the theater and saw all the couples and groups I immediately turned around and biked back home.
>>
>>64535683
haha i know what you mean, was like that on xmas, i fucken walked away. i tend to go in the daytime, less people in the theatre plus matinee price
>>
>>64535683
no one cares enough about you to even notice you are at the theater alone, also you are better than all of them
