>So why is it titled Alien: Paradise Lost? “Well, because we’re heading back to why and how and when the beast was invented,” Ridley said at The Martian premiere. “We’ll go back into the back door of the very first Alien that I did thirty years ago.”

Well, I thought Prometheus was about how and why the beast was invented.

Ridley got the ball rolling for Alien due to his Story boards. I put the success of the film down the creative team around him, and that EVEN more so in Blade Runner
I could go into it more but the biggest supporting factor in this is that Ridley never really made anything that good after Blade Runner, Gladiator is okay but over rated and Kingdom of Heaven is pretty cool but thats it

Lindelof and the studio fucked Prometheus. When it was Alien: Engineers it was a straight forward smart origin. Anything not shit in Prometheus is what's left over from the original Spaihts script. That's not necessarily a bad thing, as long as he's good at it, and there are very few people in film history as good as Ridley at taking a pre-existing vision and realising it on screen.

The problem is since he doesn't have a creative writing spark himself, he can't really tell when he's hired a mediocre screen writer, and this drags his films down.

The living ones we saw in Prometheus are just as terrifying if not more so than the xenomorph. If it wasn't for Scott the Alien movies wouldn't fucking exist.
