Empire Strikes Back did not break Star Wars' logic. In certainly deviated from the simple, humble to earth, modest adventure guidelines Star Wars had to establish a more complex and dramatic space opera. In A New Hope Luke was able to tap into the force to blow up the Death Star without any prior training. It isn't until Empire that the concept of him having to train from a young age in order to be proficient (like it's some sort of craft) is established. In the first film the force is also treated more like a religion than the set of skills that require certain genes or lineage.

The way I see this is:
In SW77 (and ESB) there's no such things as genes carrying on Force skills or whatever. So, Luke is only strong in the Force because he believed on it, not because he was someone special (remember, even Lucas didn't have the concept of Vader being Luke's father in mind at this point). That means even Han himself could be a Jedi, if he really wanted and believed on it.
In ESB, what they establish is that Vader is Luke's father near the end of the movie. We don't know why was Yoda so hesitant to train Luke, but we also didn't know why was Vader so obsessed with Luke (remember the opening crawl). It makes sense, in the retrospective, that Yoda is fearful of Luke joining the Dark Side, like Vader did. So, he says Luke's reckless, but Obi-Wan himself says he was reckless too.
Yoda's line about Luke being too old isn't supposed to be taken too seriously. Nothing in Yoda's body language and vocal tone indicates he's really being serious about Luk's age. Please notice that this is followed by Luke saying he has learned too much, and after Yoda asks Obi-Wan whether he will complete his training, Luke says he's not afraid, and then Yoda says he will be afraid.
Why would Yoda mention Luke's age if thst's a serious impediment? He's just saying bullshit, hoping he won't risk the fate of the galaxy by making Luke too strong, only for him to join the Empire.
The whole stuff about the Skywalkers being specially-giften in the Force appears in Return of the Jedi.
