Originality isn't to be lauded in and of itself. Shakespeare rarely wrote an original story, it was all remakes. Many of the greatest films of all time are based on books. The fact that attempts to be original isn't an excuse for its incompetence. VII at least understands the basics of what makes films good: acting, characters, set design, cinematography, editing, pacing. All of this is better in The Force Awakens than it is in the prequels.

I took my white girlfriend to see Star Wars a week or so back. She had never watched any of the movies but she really enjoyed it and had a good time, we kept making fun of Kylo. Gave me a kiss at the end of the movie too.
I highly recommend all other non-white Anons do this. It makes a great interracial date movie, especially if your girlfriend is white.
