His hair loss is probably partly genetic and partly his diet/physical conditioning. Given his area of expertise, I'm betting he doesn't see the outdoors very often, sits on his ass for most of the day, eats typical gamer foods (fast, easy to cook/takeout), and doesn't take part in many physical activities. That tends to play an effect on a persons general hygiene including their skin and hair quality. He probably learned some bad habits from his parents, and they probably learned them from their parents, and so on. So generation, after generation of bad habits has most likely fucked up his genetic inheritance, leaving him on the evolutionary path to becoming a human blob.
