no, they're making a comedy. a lot of the jokes just happen to play on what they know and love, which is bad movies.
Samurai Cop 2 is also a comedy, which would be fine... but it's a sequel to a movie that wasn't a comedy. It just happened to be funny because it's a terrible B-movie. Deliberately making a "terrible B-movie", where viewers are actively supposed to go, "haha it's so bad! this scene doesn't have the desired effect! what an awkward and inadvertently comic miscalculation!", is fucking lame.
The trailer for Space Cop -- which may or may not suck, I have no idea and dont really care -- makes it abundantly clear that they're going for laughs. It's modern farce. Like Tim and Eric. Either you're into that and it works for you, or you're not and it doesn't. But it's not "intentionally bad" -- they're not deliberately failing to be funny.

They seem like decent enough guys, so I'm happy for them that they managed to fall into this easy scam where they can do what they love, basically jerking off into a camera, and make money off it because they've inexplicably attracted an army of autistic shut-ins who like nothing more than to throw all their money at them. They made this movie using that money, and will make even more money when it comes out, so its win win win for them. I can't find any fault with that.
But personally, I would never drop even a nickel on seeing this. I'll watch it if I can find it for free somewhere though, same as I did Feeding Frenzy.. which was actually better than I expected, and better than this trailer makes this cheesy crap look. But I'll probably find some enjoyment in it because I like pretty much any crappy movie where the people involved in making it seem to be having fun...

I'd venture to guess none of them has felt a single sincere conviction about anything since childhood. They exist as polyps upon the colon of culture, satiating themselves on the perceived failures of others (i.e. "The Man") while adding nothing new to the discourse aside from ironic complaint.
They're a group of insecure, lost, rapidly aging burnouts who silently believe they could do a better job of making films than the professionals in the industry. Yet they lack the ambition and ability to actually enter the very industry they're obsessed with. They choose instead to fuck around and make student film piss-takes well into middle age.
They are awful, awful people. I've met thousands just like them, and the last thing we need is for these people to gain any attention for their navel gazing.
Please, /tv/, do not aspire to become anything like these people. Theirs is a lonely road leading to depression and a life devoid of real purpose.
