Alright, i'm not an expert in cinematography, but can someone explain to me how the fuck can it be that The H8ful Eight's budget is 44M $ ?!

That's insane ! Keep in mind that 90% of the movie was shot in one place. No special effects.
>>
I just watched this, is it any good?
>>
Because Actors don't work for free.
>>
>>64448211
You watched the movie and you're asking if it's good ?
>>
>>64448184
It was shot in 70memes, my friend.
>>
>>64448219
Actors ? There's harldy 15 actors in the entire movie and 8 main actors
>>
>>64448219
pretty sure JJL was before this movie
>>
Tarantinos diaper bill
>>
>>64448245
it's ameme you dip
>>
>>64448245
It's a meme. Like everything else around here.
>>
>>64448353
Pardon my newfagness please. Won't happen again.

>blows off people's heads in movie
>no special effects>>64448211
>>
>>64448184
There's a high fixed cost associated with filming on celluloid as well as filming on location. And that's fuckin 70mm ultra panavision, more so
>>
>>64448184
all the black dicks tarantino sucked dont come cheap f am t bh s m h
>>
it probably has to do with where/how it was shot

-bumfuck nowhere during heavy snow
-dug 70mm cameras out of its grave and transported it to bumfuck nowhere during heavy snow

it was probably annoying as fuck to film the interior with those cameras too

also most of the actors are huge names.
>>
That's only $25M in Reservoir Dogs release year dollars
>>
>>64448398
I still don't see how can it escalate to 44 million dollars.
>>
>>64448391
Sure thing nigger
>>
>>64448395
Yeah and it looks like a troma movie. if they spent more than 10k on effects they're fucking retarded

Most of the budget went to the actors
>>
>>64448293
Yeah, and most of them are A list actors, which cost a lot of money.
>>
>>64448462
That's the most correct answer yet. What is it with the 70mm camera ? Is it like rare or something ?
>>
>>64448462
was there actually heavy snow where they filmed? where was it?
>>
>>64448653
Colorada. I'm guessing heating bills were a big part of it.
>>
Morricone did the whole soundtrack didnt he?
>>
>>64448577
You aren't the arbiter of which answers are more correct than others.
>>
>>64448748
Oh that explains a lot then. He took easily 500k.

FARTANTINO BLOWN THE FUCK OUT
>>
70mm film is expensive. And it's pretty fucking pricey to get that many big-name actors as Tarantino did in the same room, especially when they have already worked with the director before.
>>
>>64448279
Why do they even bother with 70mm if they gonna telecine it to 2k as it is the most popular. 70mm is Imax only at least here in Europe
>>
>>64448577
Panavision cameras aren't made anymore. Tarantino loves pointing out that the last time his camera for Hateful 8 was used was all the way back in Ben-Hur
>>
>>64449628
because Tarantino has the clout to do it, and for the opportunity to show it at those Imax theaters
>>
I heard they used a single stationary camera, and every angle change was achieved by actually rotating the cabin.
>>
it's called above-the-line and people having established fees
>>
Equipment alone to rent is always expensive and can easily cost over hundreds of thousands depending on how long they shoot

Then you're paying all of the cast and crew who work on the film, most of which have a unique skill that they get paid big bucks for, especially on union shoots. Now look at how many people are in the credits.

You pay for locations, actors, food, transportation, sometimes accommodations for actors, advertising, DOP, Camera Op, Camera Asssitant, Grips, gaffers, location sound, set dec, props, makeup, practical or special effects, a SHITLOAD of PAs, editors, sound designer, composer, dialogue editor, foley artist, marketing. this doesn't even include all of the people involved in the office and paper work or even pro-production planning stages.

dude the list goes on. You constantly pull overtime hours which then means you start paying people double or even triple their typical wages as well.
>>
>>64448245

Meme, dumbass. You got meme-ed.
>>
>>64448577
70mm is the largest film stock made when it comes to motion pictures. Though /tv/ is sort of misleading you since 70mm is actually the film PROJECTED and not shot with. 65mm is the film that is loaded into the Panovision cameras and used to make the movie.

EIGHTO FARTO
>>
>>64449994
Saving for future reference, thanks.
>>
>>64449628
It's just ego stroking for the few directors who still make demands like that and get away with it
>>
>>64448571
This right here. Probably 90% of the budget was just the actors salary
>>
>>64451500
this
>>
>>64451582
Thanks for agreeing with him friend, I didn't believe him until you came to his defense
>>
>>64451655
fuck off
>>
imax is 70mm right? is there any difference between a movie filmed for imax or 70mm? is it just a name brand thing and there is no difference?
>>
When will Tarantula give in to digital?
>>
>>64448748

the soundtrack was great besides the shitty pop songs. seriously what is qts obsession with inserting really inappropriate music in his movies? he obviously knows how to put together amazing soundtracks judging by pulp fiction
>>
It just doesn't look like an interesting night l movie. Inglorious basterds want that good either
>>
Is the producer who leaked it gonna get in trouble?
>>
>>64449608

russell and jackson were the only stars and theyre pretty much b listers by this point in their careers
>>
>>64452054

>implying using cat people in Inglorious wasn't fucking great
>>
>>64449994

>bone tomahawk cost 1 million to make
>>
>>64452117
Tatum? He's A list fuccboi
>>
>>64448571

there literally wasnt a single a list actor in the movie besides channing tatum
>>
>>64448184
He pulled out all the stops for everything
>muh 70mm
>filmed all in the middle of nowhere
>Big Time actors
>Ennio Morricone

I think he was expecting it to be his best movie ever
>>
>>64452188

okay. one A lister.
>>
>>64452230
>sam jackson
>kurt russell
>bruce dern
>>
>>64452287

a listers pull in 10s of millions per movie. theyre lucky to make a million per. they do b movie shlock and indie films. they arent box office draws which determines a list status
>>
>>64452252
turns out it was his worst, go figure

It was way better than Django.

the ending was shit but the rest was great

django was better due to leo's performance alone. hateful eight was shit as soon as they got to the haberdashery
>>
>>64448211
Yes, in fact it is your new favorite film and you'll marathon it annually from now on

>>64452421
