I'd disagree. I hate the scene where Luke confronts Vader on Endor. Again I find the dialogue clunky and awkward, and everything Luke says feels out of place, it totally breaks with his normal speech pattern and just feels weird. Honestly I'd say that Jedi is the only OT movie where the bad outweighs the good by a slim margin. The Death Star space battle and final duel save it pretty much.

He had basically all of the plot details set up, Obi-Wan training Anakin, Anakin being the chosen one, midichlorians, the Jedi not being down with fucking, ect.
He laid a lot of this out to the guy who wrote Splinter of the Mind's Eye, the first major canon work in EU. As the EU expanded he didn't talk to every person who wrote in it so a lot of the pre-prequel old EU (1991-1998ish which is when most of the good EU material was made) so a lot of them didn't get the memo, particularly on romance not being okay.
It was retconned, alongside many things, with Ruusan, that the Lucas rules for Jedi and Sith (rule of two WAS made up around 1996 for the prequels) only apply uniformly for the 'thousand years' the Republic had stood since the last reformation.
