This "Sicario is amazing" meme needs to die.
The script was utter dogshit. It looked great, the actors were admirable, solidly edited, atmospheric score. But the writing... you could tell the writer has amateur at best knowledge on the subject. It was all very hokey and sensationalist, with dialogue that wouldn't be out of place on a Law and Order episode (This is the land of wolves). And then there were the contrivances. That Jon Bernthal scene was such a mess from a writing standpoint. The motherfucker happens to have that specific wrist band linked to the drug money in a previous scene? Fuck off. And all the characters other than the three mains were just wastes. I give this movie a 6/10 based on the atmosphere, performances, and other little things, but this won't win any awards and rightly so.

The cinematography was really really good... the acting was good. That sequence when they're escorting the mexican dude across the border was fucking amazing. Reminded me of Heat.
But the rest of the movie was pretty meh. It really needed a few more scenes like that.
I also liked that the girl got her ass kicked every time, which makes sense since she's a small woman and everyone else was a big dude. I'm glad she wasn't some superhero.
Good movie, would recommend, but it wasn't the movie of 2015. Every one knows it's Mad Max.

I liked it very much, but the point it was trying to make was quite shallow.
So, the law enforcement operates outside of legal boundaries and shoots shit up. We get that after the escort scene. And then the climax is just more of shooting shit up without the squad being engaged first. More of the same, and then we see just how evil BDT is.
desu I'd rather see Blunt's character shoot BDT so at least we can see her do something morally questionable or remotely interesting. Because she has fuckall to do in the movie, she is a bystander who yells "OH NOES" sometimes.

What was Benicio doing to the man in the interrogation scene? He brought in a water jug for presumably waterboarding but when everyone left we hear rhythmic thrusting banging ominous sounds. And the camera deliberately lingered on the water jug which remained untouched and unopened right next to a drain which had no liquid streaming through. So we can assume that the water jug was just brought in to give the illusion that he was about to waterboard which is already sketchy enough even for the hardened cops and officers that were in that room, but when they left they were obviously doing something else.
