The existance of this item has no sense. Luke lost it in the vent of a flying mining station on a fucking gas planet.
>>
>>64436824
are you sure he lost it?

How did Kylo Ren manage to get Vader's mask?
>>
>>64437051

Because Vader was incinerated and probably buried somewhere on Endor. Darth Edge must had been looking for it until he found the burnt corpse and suit.
>>

it makes as much sense as Mary Sue Rey being dropped on a desert world from the age of 4 and yet be able to fight even toe and out force use, an experienced and active force user especially when he fought her easily enough to a chasm that had opened into a grand canyon. And then she, Mary Sue Rey, closed her eyes, wished upon a star and believed within her hidden tiara of Disney Princess Might and easily out saber dueled some one who effortless pushed her back but seconds before.

it makes as much sense as Mary Sue Rey being adored and trusted by everyone she meets. It makes as much sense as her flying the Falcon as good as Han could, with one pilot in a dog fight through the innards of a ship easily avoiding all the sharp turns and obstacles on her first try.

Nothing about this shitty Disney Power Princess bullshit makes any sense.
>>
>>64436824

The vents funnelled air through them helped by the aerodynamics of the surrounding building.
When Luke fell his motion was diverted to a vent which was designed to capture any falling debris. Being a floating city on a gas planet natural resource were scarce and so capturing any waste was deemed economical. Therefor it is very likely that Luke lightsabre was funnelled through to a different tunnel and salvaged from the wreckage.
How it ended up with Maz is a story for another time.

how many kids that were trained as ultimate fighters that you know of that didn't train for more than 12 years and suddenly was able to go toe to toe with an active ultimate fighter and hold their own?

rey went toe to toe, or went perfectly against, an active force user---on the off chance she MUST HAVE or PROBABLY DID, train with a saber as a kid; She's a Mary Sue, get over it.

1. kylo isnt a sith, he's still in training
2. you saw at the beginning her fighting skills with a staff. is a lightsaber that much harder?
3. she has just awoken to the force. maybe the first time you get a buzz of force magic idk
4. kylo was shot in the thigh, he's bleeding everywhere
5. kylo is "being torn apart by the force"
6. kylo has just killed his father. that might put him on edge
7. mary sue is double jedi, being the incest baby of leila and luke
8. she may have been secretly trained already and then had her memory wiped

idk
>>
>>64440231
>1. kylo isnt a sith, he's still in training

Kylo is a guy who used Force Freeze, which as is, is hands down the greatest Defensive and Offensive ability ever used. He then Used Force Interrogation which is hands down second to none in ability and lethality, until Mary Sue Rey Used it too which was a universal sized hock of shit but I digress.

>2. you saw at the beginning her fighting skills

with a staff. is a lightsaber that much harder?
So if she's using a staff she automatically can out force use, an active force user who, as a teenager killed and wiped out the new Jedi Order? She was fighting a bunch of try hards with a stick while Ren was combating active force users who also had sabers. Can you say, Mary Sue?

>3. she has just awoken to the force. maybe the first time you get a buzz of force magic idk

Wrong. The force never worked that way until this movie. Luke awakened to the force upside down in a cave and even then it took him all of three minutes to pull his saber free. Rey out force pulls a force level master who had two of the greatest OP abilities ever seen in six movies. Can you say, Mary Sue?

>4. kylo was shot in the thigh, he's bleeding everywhere5. kylo is "being torn apart by the force"6. kylo has just killed his father. that might put him on edge

and yet Vader was burnt to a crisp over 99% of his body save for his eyes and nose. And Luke struck him on his shoulder with his light saber which only served to strengthen Vader. Pain and Confussion and Fear and anxiety is a trait and source of the dark side. as Yoda himself said, Fear leads to anger, anger to hate, hate leads to suffering. Saying Kylo was fearful and anxious and suffered is all things which the dark side uses to seep into one's soul. All of them would only be in his favor. Rey, closes her eyes after Kylo has her beat and she out forces him. Anakin was a child of the force and still had to train, and wiped memory doesn't, a capable force user make you.
>>
>>64438858

That doesn't explain the critical reception though. Given how unintelligent you are I'm assuming you explain that with either muh shills or muh SJWs.

It's pretty easy to conceive of a potential explanation for how the lightsaber was recovered.
>>
>>64439648
In the movie she does say "I'll never touch that again." when gifted the lightsaber. Implying she had trained at some point in the past.

One time, when I was a kid, I dropped a toy out of the window of a moving car.

My mom turned around (because we had JUST bought it) and we picked it up off the road.

By the logic of this topic, the toy should've been lost forever.
>>
>>64440817
>Kylo is a guy who used Force Freeze, which as is, is hands down the greatest Defensive and Offensive ability ever used. He then Used Force Interrogation which is hands down second to none in ability and lethality

Jesus Christ, please stop this shit. Using the Force in the movies is not leveling up a Jedi character sheet until you unlock discrete abilities that can be ranked by skill level and power. This is something only ever used in video games out of necessity because you have to define character progression and abilities, but it doesn't apply to the actual movies.
>>
>>64440817

>He then Used Force Interrogation

get a load of this guy

it's star wars. it's out of George's hands since everyone was saying he dropped the ball with the prequels. at one point Disney said the guy who wrote toy story 3 was writing the script. everyone was saying use jar jar because of star trek 09. into darkness was pure shit but then they reasoned it was the script's fault.
everyone loves star wars so it's kind of a no brainer. much like in 1977, 1987 and 2009, there's not much else going on in theaters. not since Avatar was this much excitement out there to go see a movie in and around Christmas time.

all the stars aligned just right for this one. but in two years, when the second one comes out, and if God allows us to live until that time, you're going to have a very different turn out, this, I guarantee you.

this movie's weaknesses will be spoken of by the very ones who are praising this garbage. it's still the honeymoon phase, just you wait until they return to day to day life. things are going to change, soon.

>>64440962
That's not how it works, anon. You don't put down your saber as a 4 year old child, then pick it up 12 years later and suddenly you're better than a force using master who as a teenager killed and wiped out the New Jedi Order.

>>64441020

Madness! The force is a syntax and the techniques used are programs, the more intricate the technique the more effort required and knowledge required. By your reasoning Anakin or Obi wan could have caught dooku's lighting and dispelled it or threw it back at him, but that's not what happened. Luke, should have been able to make his own saber in empire but it took him another year and some to become proficient enough with the necessary force sense to build his own saber.

>it makes as much sense as Mary Sue Rey
Stopped reading right there. If you want a Mary Sue how about we go back to Phantom Menace where Anakin at the age of 9 builds a droid from scratch, races and beats veteran pod racer champions, Flies a Naboo starfighter with no training, and accidentally and entire trade federation mothership.

Or better yet back to return of the Jedi where Luke, after only a brief lecture about the force from Obiwan and two weeks of Training from Yoda and 4 years of self teaching beats the ass off of Vader who single handedly slaughtered nearly the whole Jedi order.
>>
>>64440817
>this much butthurt in one post

Come on man, most of your points are baseless.

1. We know he isn't a sith and that he hasn't completed his training. Although he may be gifted with the force in some ways, he might not be a natural swordsman.

2. We know Rey is at least skilled in combat and that Ren actually had her on the ropes for most of the fight. He was also wounded and emotionally compromised. Bringing up the fact that he overthrew the new Jedi Order proves nothing, as we don't know how many other Jedi there were/how skilled they were. Ren also had help from Snoke and the other knights of Ren.

3.Force powers are entirely dependent on what the narrative calls for. The fact that Ren was in a weakened state probably has something to do with Rey out force pulling him.

4. Vader was rebuilt into a cyborg with super strength. Also, we've only ever seen that anger can give someone power but that it can also make them overconfident/reckless. Implying that negative emotion only contributes positive to one's skill is missing the whole point.
>>
>>64440817
>with a staff. is a lightsaber that much harder?

I so love it when people bring up a phantom menace in calling Anakin a Gary Stu, i so love it, and in ways you can't imagine it makes me stronger when you bring it up.

Anakin, my impetuous anonymous user, had a force sixth sense ability. One which Luke had because if you'd remember, Luke used this very same timing ability to pull the trigger at the right time.
that's all the ability was you know, a timing ability and it was one that even with it, ANAKIN STILL WRECKED SEVERAL PODS AND HAD NEVER FINISHED A RACE. Anakin, A CHILD OF THE FORCE! Never finished a race. And the timing ability or the ability to avoid danger and or time your next move a bit quicker than others, only provided Anakin with sufficient proficiency to compete with other aliens.

TO ACTUALLY WIN THE POD RACE TOOK A PRACTICED SKILL ANAKIN RIGHTFULLY GAINED, after racing repeatedly and wrecking continually.

movies end, climatic battle...Anakin is taken to the battle via REMOTE CONTROL, once there, he has R2 get them off Remote wire because he doesn't know how to TURN IT OFF, and then, USING HIS FORCE SIXTH SENSE ABILITY, to avoid danger, you know that ability that took him a while to be good at, and all at the cost of several pods. well that ability, that trained ability; a perfect merger of his sixth sense skills and his TRAINED skills, lead to Anakin avoiding laser fire. while running from droid ships, he happens onto the destroyer, his engines overHEATED.

Desperately he's trying to restart the engines and while he's trying to restart the engines, droids are approaching his craft. he fires his lasers at them, and ACCIDENTALLY destroys a refuelling tank and gets the hell out of there.

were it Mary Sue Rey though, she would have won the pod race, struck the refueling tank from Naboo using a blaster rifle and bested Darth Maul before Obi wan and Jinn's shocked eyes, all at the age of 9 since she would have been that much closer to her training she magically gained at 4.

How do people not realize that the other students were killed by Luke? When Rey touches the lightsaber we see a flashback of Luke with his students, one of them is Kylo. Do we see Kylo kill anyone? No, we actually see Kylo standing with other people (presumably his fellow students) behind him, backing him up, and we don't see what happens after that.

My theory is that Ben was a slow learner and kind of a fuck up, so Snoke finds him and influences him somehow and convinces him to use the Dark Side because of how much easier it is. Ben then goes back to the other students and shows them his newfound abilities. He convinces them all to turn on Luke because he feels Luke had been holding out on them all this time, then Luke kills them all in the ensuing fight, but Ben escapes. Luke lied to everyone about what happened and told Han and Leia that Ben killed the other students. Luke disappears to find the first Jedi temple for reasons as yet unknown.

this isnt dragonball z where every jedi has a power level and needs to train at 100x gravity to get strong enough to defeat the big bad guy. would you nerds have felt better if rey went through a rocky montage of lifting rocks with her brain magic beforehand? the only source material that perpetuates this bullshit of needing a lot of training to "unlock" the force are video games, EU trash and part of the prequels

>1. We know he isn't a sith and that he hasn't completed his training. Although he may be gifted with the force in some ways, he might not be a natural swordsman.

sith or no, he used two of the most powerfully potent abilities ever seen in six movies. sith or not, those abilities were on par, at least one of them were, with Yoda reflecting Sheev's force lightning. Maybe even surpassing it.

Bringing up the fact that she's some combatant against a bunch of normies says even less. She fought normies, Ren fought Jedi from the new order. and as you saw, he lead the Knights of Ren. they were called the knights of Ren and he was at the forefront, killing Jedi. Ren was more than capable and saying injury and emotionally turmoil means nothing,
"and yet Vader was burnt to a crisp over 99% of his body save for his eyes and nose. And Luke struck him on his shoulder with his light saber which only served to strengthen Vader. Pain and Confussion and Fear and anxiety is a trait and source of the dark side. as Yoda himself said, Fear leads to anger, anger to hate, hate leads to suffering. >3.Force powers are entirely dependent on what the narrative calls for. The fact that Ren was in a weakened state probably has something to do with Rey out force pulling him.

Say what you will about Mr Lucas, at least believability was intricate to his stories. Lucas, never once used the force in a way that wasn't within reason to the established Narrative.
>>
Reminder that Rey has had training. She has a history with Luke and the Jedi Academy.

http://www.ign.com/articles/2015/12/31/star-wars-the-force-awakens-released-script-and-novelization-offer-new-details-on-the-ending-and-more

>The screenplay also makes it clear that Luke is well aware of who Rey is, saying Skywalker "doesn’t need to ask her who she is, or what she is doing here." It also describes Hamill's character has having "kindness in his eyes" despite the "tortured" feelings within.

Also Kylo Ren was weakened by killing Han. In addition to losing blood from Chewie's bowcaster, killing his father actually made him weaker.

>Adam Driver's Kylo Ren is also further detailed in the screenplay, which notes that Ren is "horrified" and "somehow weakened" when he kills his father Han Solo. Additionally the novelization confirms that Snoke informs Ren that Darth Vader's only weakness was the love he had for Luke, and that was the reason the dark side ultimately fell.

Also Rey was channeling the Dark Side in the final fight.

>The script also emphasizes the fear felt within Ren during his battle with Rey, noting Ridley's character nearly killed him before she realized she was standing "on a greater edge than even the cliff — the edge of the dark side." As such, it's clear Rey also feels the pull of the dark side. In fact, the novelization says she hears an "amorphous" voice telling her kill Ren, which, according to the audio book, appears to be Supreme Leader Snoke.

how many eight year olds were born of the force and had faster reaction times than normal mortals. plus you have 8 year olds who has driven cars.

>>64442357
yes, because at 4 she retains all of the force nuances and proclivities and to a degree that she never, for well over 12 years had to train at all thereafter and even still, had enough understanding and confidence and practice at the age of 4, that she could out force use and soundly defeat, an active force level master of his arts.

>>64442357

>Also Kylo Ren was weakened by killing Han. In addition to losing blood from Chewie's bowcaster, killing his father actually made him weaker.

>Also Rey was channeling the Dark Side in the final fight.

So I guess Ren was chopped liver. At least with Luke there's a character progression in which he becomes at least a Kngiht before he can believably take on Vader so when he taps into the dark side to beat him it's not only believable but logical. Rey does it on the fly for no reason, literally out of left field with no training or memory there of in over a decade.

Not only is she a mary sue but she's a poorly written character who can into everything she tries on the first go. she's boring and unimaginative and in two years, everyone with half a brain will hate her character.

Back on topic:
I was wondering how they managed to find the lightsaber, too. I recall seeing it falling from the garbage chute and into the clouds below when Luke caught himself on the antenna. I'm not sure if there is a difference in this scene between the original and re-masters, but either way, it's pretty clear that Luke and his hand/lightsaber fell into the same chute, and the hand and lightsaber fell into the gas giant.

Unless the planet really isn't a gas giant, but a rocky planet with an atmosphere of thick gaseous clouds, I assumed the lightsaber would have fallen to the core of the planet and last forever.

That was not Luke's lightsaber.

Look at the scene of Luke kneeling on the chute door before it opens and Luke falls out. The lightsaber is not there.

His lightsaber didnt fall down the chute tunnel Luke fell into. The Lightsaber fell into Cloud City and stayed there till someone living there picked it up. It never fell into Bespin's atmosphere.

Let's see, in the flash backs, she saw Ren jumping down people at the Jedi academy. SO WHAT YOU'RE SAYING IS, BECAUSE A PERSON WAS AT THE ACADEMY DOESN'T MEAN THEY WERE A JEDI?

INTERESTING, fascinating, REALLY, fascinating. So according to you, according to you, according to you, because Ren was seen cutting down a bloke, said bloke cut down wasn't necessarily a Jedi.

Maybe Rey wasn't a Jedi at all and was simply there...because according to you, the guy she cut down wasn't necessarily a Jedi, then maybe she wasn't. maybe she was simply a youngling, you know like the ones a force proficient user like Anakin killed in episode 3..you know the little kiddies that plays with balls all day, the flying balls. maybe that was rey, a 4 year old who was a youngling playing with balls.

What is Cloud City planet anyways? I've seen two thing; one is it's like Jupiter, the other is that its an actual planet when under the clouds it's just factories.
Also, theoretically, what would happen if you fell on a gas giant planet? Would you just keep falling until you are crushed by gravity near the 'core'?

>logic: do you use it?

>Or better yet back to return of the Jedi where Luke, after only a brief lecture about the force from Obiwan and two weeks of Training from Yoda
>two weeks

He was trained longer then that, and learned the basics to move forward on his own. "Already know you, that which you need." Luke left Yoda with the information, just not the mastery. He honed his skills according to what he knew for years before beating Vader.
>>
>>64443460
Do you really think Yoda is teaching Luke technical ability? Do you think the scene in ANH with the training remote is Obi-Wan teaching Luke literally how to use the lightsaber? With your thinking Obi-Wan must have stood in a room with some poor guy and did 50 mind tricks a day to get as good as he is with them in ANH. Oh and Vader lost to Luke in RotJ because he practiced with this lightsaber enough since Empire, right?

>>64443495

And in Superman 2 script the North Pole police finds zod and others and arrest them and Luther. they even shot the scene. All involved thought it would be shitty, and it was. They kept the implication in that Superman killed Zod and that his actions led to the other's death.

what's on paper and what's in the final product, are two very different eventualities.
>>
>>64443534
>Also, theoretically, what would happen if you fell on a gas giant planet? Would you just keep falling until you are crushed by gravity near the 'core'?

Assuming you're in a space suit and can breath...

* You would probably burn up before being crushed.

* With a parachute you avoid burning up on reentry, but would be crushed at a fairly high altitude (given the size of the planet).

* A device like a lightsaber? Burned, crushed, lost forever floating in a dense liquid layer.

Vader taught him the basics, the basics. Vader gave him the alphabet, and how to write cat, rat, dog, they, thus and so on.

Using the syntax Luke spent well over a year writing sentences and then paragraphs and finally a chapter. The difference is, you confused sad fellow, is that Luke had years to hone what he had learned. Rey was told something as an adult, and was MAYBE trained in the basics as a 4 year old. All of which she never practices in all of 12 years. Ren was so proficient that he used Force Freeze, and Force interrogation, both of which was more than Vader could have done. So it's obvious he trained.

ren is an active x games bike rider. Rey rode a bike at 4, and yet she out tricks a guy who was in the x games? madness!

Luke, did I ever tell you that your father got tossed across a room by Dooku's Sith Force lightening. He didn't know that lightsabers can block such an attack, a lesson he never forgot after that. Never throw aside you saber Luke, especially if facing the Emperor. That weapon is your life.

They were all good friends.

>What is Cloud City planet anyways?

A gas giant where they harvest the gas of the planet and sell it. The floating structures they live on create a breathable, livable atmosphere for the inhabitants.
Why people live and work there instead of droids, I don't know.

>Luke awakened to the force upside down in a cave

No he didn't.
>>
>>64443689
Which is why I brought up the ANH thing asshole, you aren't correcting me on anything. I'm the one that brought up how the script isn't always the same as the movie.

>>64443833
>Yoda taught him the basics, the basics.
You've completely glossed over what my post is about retard. What do you think Yoda is teaching Luke specifically in Empire?

Then you go off on the Rey has secret training shit that I never brought up so great strawman there. The fact that you're using the discrete video game tier names of these new force techniques shows just how much you have confused about the force.
>>
>>64443935
Luke used the force to aide him in firing the missiles at the right time. empire was the first time he used it to move something. notice how he struggles.
>>
Side question - why is Harrison Ford listed as cast of Episode VIII? Han Solo didn't die? Flashback?
>>
>Girl is very strong in the force
>Kylo Ren is a pussy who hasn't ever had an actual challenge
>Never used his lightsaber in a real swordfight before
>Is fighting against a girl who is scrappy as fuck and survived on a piece of shit junkyard planet scrounging in deserts and destroyed star hulks for mechanical parts and ship machinery
>used a bo staff her entire life likely and handles herself well with it

That's literally all there is to it.
Kylo Ren is weak, but against non-force sensitive people, he's a wizard.

It's a story for another time :^)

so you're saying Rey is a mary sue, right.

>>64444224
Against a master level user Rey should have been nothing. but for a Disney Power Princess production, such a thing as believability isn't a part of the narative so Rey was made all powerful for no reason at all other than to sell tiaras and toys to millions of young girls. no believable progression like Luke Skywalker for this new protagonist. she literally becomes a master within a few hours of learning of the force.

>so you're saying Rey is a mary sue, right
Wanna not be a cunt for 30 seconds and actually reply to my post instead of your agenda pushing bullshit?

It stayed on Cloud City. Probably picked up by a trashman, sold on the black market...

>>64444224
Good explanation. Doesn't change the fact that she's a boring character.

>Using the Force in the movies is not leveling up a Jedi character sheet until you unlock discrete abilities that can be ranked by skill level and power.
Star Wars is literally an RPG, like how all Skywalkers are weak to slash damage

>>64439751
Oh they both hand their hand on.. someone.. something..
>>
>>64440905
Both the positive and negative reviews are calling it a rehash, the only difference is if they excuse it "because it's Star Wars"
>>
>>64444829
What is he teaching him? he's helping him to see the force and to feel and it to be able to manipulate it. the force is a muscle, the more you use it the better you get with it. some force users can play basketball, other force users can play tennis or football or become professional bikers. there are even force users who can become world class swimmers, then there are some who can tight rope between the world trade using those very same muscles, lots of stamina and a shit tonne of practice and nerve.

once Yoda showed Luke what the force was and how to use it, Luke had to do the training and the practising and the refining on his own.

you can teach a person to ride a bike or tight rope or shoot hoops but you can't make them a professional athlete or the main attraction. only time, practice and effort can do that.

Is Empire your least favorite Star Wars movie or something? Your entire post is fucked, but really I could have just stopped at "the force is a muscle."

>luminous beings are we, not this crude matter
>now take out your lightsaber, much sparring we have to do

Lord you give them eyes but unnoticed the simplest things remains.

You know what symbolism is, right?

obviously you're not a bible reader so i have to give you a pass but when trying to make sense of something immeasurable or complicated, you put it into human terms that some one can understand while hoping not to lose the substance of the thing you're describing.

remember ezekiel's chariot or do you remember, Satan being described as a dragon or a roaring lion or how the kingdom of heaven is like a mustard seed that grows into the largest tree ever.

or how when the great dragon disgorged its mouth and released a torrent of water the kings of the earth split the earth and the waters from the dragon fell into the chasm, remember that from revelation?

well if not, the kings of the earth are the governments God allows to Rule, even though they're as much a part of the great dragon as the torrents the dragon releases, however, the torrents represents chaotic badness, and the kings of the earth, though given authority by satan, the dragon, doesn't like chaos all that much so them splitting the earth are the laws and the amenities in place that serves to control the chaotic ones.

so the kings of the earth are the governments and the dragon is satan and the water he releases are the chaotic ones of this system who just worships violence, the joker from the dark knight types.

Assuming the lightsaber is relatively indestructible, they could probably detect it and fish it up from somewhere inside the core. I mean, they have death stars and faster than light travel, it doesn't seem that impossible a task.
>>
>>64446616
yes because in a city that's bigger than newyork city it's so easy to find a can of hair spray that fell some where's about.

let's just admit this move is intolerably bad and the prequels although horribly handled, had one thing going with it, a consistent sense of logic. TFA is garbage. horrible, insufferable, garbage.
>>
>>64446740
except a gas giant is a relatively homogenous non-solid that's starkly different from a light saber and we have nowhere near the level of technology that SW has
