Why was Prometheus killing the humans?
>>
yes and no. I thought he was twice referred to as "medellin" because of hsi accent.
>>
>>64429843

what's the "no" part?
>>
>Wait! I never did get your name?

>[awkward silence....] Sicario.

MOTY me arse
>>
>>64429871
He was workign for them by workign against one of the Mex competitors as contracted by CIA.

I really don't understand how he acquired his skillset. He's pretty fucking good at killing people for being a former prosecutor.
>>
>>64430013
Yeah seriously the way he killed that family seemed too good for a simple prosecutor. Maybe we will get a back story on how he became Sicario
>>
>>64430013
>He was workign for them by workign against one of the Mex competitors as contracted by CIA.

So just "yes?"

He was sharp and able bodied, but most importantly, driven by vengeance and likely not afraid of death. He could have just trained hard with his eyes on the prize and went for it.
>>
>>64429721
would a prometheus beat up a predator?
>>
>>64429545
disappointing movie teebee hache.
>>
>>64430127
No way unless the Prometheus has weapons of his own
>>
>>64430055
I mean, look at the US spec op dudes in the movie. They train 24/7 from veyr, very young to work as they do with nigh unlimited resources and tech, and a pissed off former lawyer is not just workign with them, but is such an asset that the US spec op teams conduct badassery just to insert him so he can run his own op.

I'm hoping we get a backstory too. Seems like a compelling, if a bit stock, character.
>>
>>64430127

If Ridley demands such a contrivance than absolutely yes, but it would have to first be Predator goo, then a proto Predator, Predator human hybrid, etc. and would be first in a series of 4 films.
>>
>>64430104
I meant that he was wasn't explicitly hired by Colombian cartel or working with their interests as a priority. I got the sense that he wanted nothign to do with the drug trade outside of his ver ynarrow, personal, motivations, which kind of made the end of hte movie confusing.
>>
>>64430179

Those special ops were just a handful of guys out of dozens on the task force. Also it's not prequel Jedi school, they're not training from a "very, very" young age. It's their job like anything else.

>>

>he wasn't working with their interests as a priority

He was. I get what you're saying, it was personal for him too, and we don't know the breakdown, as in how much was vengeance vs allegiance to cartel/CIA, but his goal, which he executed, was to destroy the competition. Personal, for him, but enormous business/criminal implications.

Wasn't he the only person who said he was a lawyer? And to the FBI when they 1st met?

I assumed he was lying and he was a big deal Columbian cartel hit man (Sicario). Or that he was a lawyer before he became a hit man.

His wife and kids were killed by the Mexicans because he was a c. cartel member, not because he was a gimpy lawyer who became a super-soldier for revenge.

That was my take anyway...

Thats why he was in such a bad mood at the end because he thinks he should have an assistant to do that shit for him.
>>
>>64435325

This, the director implied there's a deleted scene in which Sicario sits in front of his computer, grumbling, and has some trouble with the printer. Said it messed up the flow or something.
>>
>>64435325
Sucks to be the birddog. I bet he has a little desk somewhere in a even smaller room. Then it's friday and he looks to the clock and gets hyped for his date with delta force who wanted to grab a drink, but then Brolin walks in wearing fucking flip-flops and dumps a ton of files on his desk and tells him to finish it til monday. Then he mumbles something like "puta!" and has to make an awkward call to that head guy from delta.

What is School of the Americas

US trains and equips foreign actors all the time.

Here's how it goes:

>Prosecutor, comes into contact with cartel, does legal dealings with them, keeps out of shady stuff, just doing lawyer things
>Wife and family targeted and killed by rival mexican cartel. Vows revenge, probably starts murdering for his cartel, hence sicario
>At this time CIA are looking into installing a columbian cartel in place of the mexican one because columbian one is easier to control or whatever
>Joshbro Lin figures "oh hey why not have this guy with nothing to lose and a grudge do the dirty work?" so gets him properly trained and equipped with CIA oper8r skills and kit, and unleashes him to cut the head off the snake.

There, backstory.

Considering the screenwriter was formerly in a main role on Sons of Anarchy, I find it very conspicuous that Sicario bares striking similarities to the Galindo Cartel/CIA storyline in Season 4.

>>
>>64431299
He was a main of conviction, with nothing to lose, who wanted to do this sort of thing. It's likely that, given the cartel whacked out his family, he was a very fiery, devoted and passionate prosecutor as well. Is it that far of a stretch that he took that same conviction and redirected it towards becoming an operator to dismantle the cartel?

He's like that perfect soldier that Kurtz describes to Willard at the end of Apocalypse Now.
>>
>>64430745

>>
>>64436582
Not really. A smart man would make a spear.
>>
>>64436565
I think the birddog comment said it all. It's not like they didn't have the capability to do have an american guy do it, but this hitman stuff seems to carried out by folks who are considered expendable. Think of Lee Harvey Oswald.
>>
>>64436575
His character was killed off at the start of Season 3 after having a much larger role in Season 2. But I know what you're saying. I liked that storyline, but in a cheesy cool way. I don't think it was every really resolved. I think they are last mentioned in season 5 or 6 at some point when an alliance needs to be shifted. They start buying Lin's guns from his Hamas connect or w/e. Should have brought them back in the final season, seeing as they would have been fucking pissed off at Jax for systematically destroying their gun connection.

The only time "sicario" is mentioned in the movie is the text-opening in the beginning. In every other scene he's just called "Medellin."

Pretty sure I heard the word sicario some part else.
>>
>>64430179

>>
>>64436680
I think this is the most important point. If something goes wrong and del Toro gets killed, it's just more cartel violence. But if an American soldier is sent, it becomes a failed CIA operation that results in massive blowback. Benicio was simply the most convenient choice, not necessarily the most skilled. It's not like it's difficult to waste a couple of untrained cartel thugs toting pistols with an assault rifle.
>>
>>64436896
So they're just normal soldiers for the twelve years before that?
>>
>>64436565

Well, I think a lot of them come from Ranger or Sniper units. They're considered "elite," but are not technically Spec Ops.

I'm not saying it helps by definition just that they are educated and or intelligent. Pretty sure SF can need all kinds of stuff though.

>>
>>64437258
Rangers are more like the birddogs for special forces as I understand it, unless you're talking about their new specialized teams. I think they watch the backs of delta and so on while those are doing their stuff. Green Berets are the traditional Special Forces and basically do a little of everything but mainly teaching locals as force multipliers.
