Who is your J-fu, guys?
Also I just watched Love Exposure and loved it. This place is occasionally a shithole, but it will often offer good recommendations. What are some other Sion Sono films you would recommend?
Was thinking about watching Love Exposure, now I'll definitely get on that.
And aside from me, good luck keeping this thread afloat.

Noriko's Dinner table is excellent, probably his second best after Love Exposure.
Cold Fish is also great, very dark comedy and very violent.
Why Don't You Die in Hell? Is probably the one closest in style to Love Exposure, but is way over the top, but that's what makes it good.

OP here. It was my first Sono film and I'll admit I was like you. It was really and - I'll admit - unexpectedly good. I thought I was out of my mind starting a 4-hour japanese surrealist film, but time flies when you're having fun.

Seriously i have only watched Love Exposure once and i already consider it one of my favorite films, i need to get on more of his work
I tried watching it a while ago but couldn't get through the first half an hour or so. It was just too.. Asian for me. I know, I know, pleb as fuck. Now I've watched some more Asian cinema(was new to it in general back then, and still sort of am), including a couple of Sono's own and I think I'm ready to tackle it again. Thanks for reminding me.
I just watched Tag, and i have to say...my mind is still fucked. I understand what Sion Sono was going for, but holy shit, that was the most elaborate way to explain gender roles in society
Ranked:
1. Why Don¨t You play In Hell?
2. Love Exposure
3. Guilty of Romance
4. Cold Fish
5. Tokyo Tribe
5. Suicide Club
7. Tag.
Only seen three so far:
1. Love Exposure
2. Strange Circus
3. Himizu
Although Himizu wasn't that bad compared to Sono's best it was a let down.
But I do love the other ones.

Don't fret over it. We are here to have fun. If you don't like something, move on to something you like (more).

I'm not "trying" to like it, if that's what you got from my post. It just took me a while to get into Asian cinema, and I think I might legitimately enjoy it if I watch it now. That's all I meant.
Asami Suguira is objectively best J-fu.
>JAV idol
>martial arts champion
>East and West movie star
anybody got links for Noriko's Dinner Club? struggling to find it in decent quality anywhere
Guilty of Romance
I know a lot of people didn't like it as much as his other works, but it touched me in a way the others didn't.

It's Noriko's Dinner Table.

And also: Why don't you play in hell? Wrong titles will make films impossible to find.
