The entire point of the prequels was to explain how an evil Sith gained control of an army of clones that could take over the galaxy. But once that Sith AND his apprentice are killed, suddenly the remaining stormtroopers and generals will just accept any random Sith that comes along as their leader? How many sexually repressed men does the Empire really need to sit on thrones and yell at people to build more death stars?
Somebody more competent should be taking over. I was thinking this reasonably insightful guy might be of some use. Maybe if he spent half the money spent on new deathstars on TIE fighters that didn't suck ass, they wouldn't get exploded on their own battle station by max maybe 20 x-wings.

The children of the Empire's leaders, who see their failures, will naturally be inclined to say "We could totally do what they did a hell of a lot better", and so they try.
They get a seemingly even better Dark force user as their leader and they try to build an even better "Death Star" because they want to say they did it right. Unfortunately for them, this is a film where good guys win so Death Star 3.0 gets blown up.

The first order stormtroopers are not the same people as the imperial stormtroopers. First order troopers are kidnapped as children and forced into war, recruiting people to become stormtroopers was outlawed under the Galactic Concordance.
