Just watched the first season of this. The casting was painfully cliche and the acting was unimpressive, but I sure do love a series that starts with an interesting premise and then actually does something with it.

Serious guy. Doesn't talk a lot. Gets irritated by less professional crew.
Black Man. Has no personality, is a serious straight man to not offend minorities.
Jerk. Always ready with the put downs and sarcastic one-liners, but not in the "hero" way. Just a bit of an asshole.
Independent Woman. Tough warrior, will physically assault at least one of the male cast to show she is physically capable. Has no time for jokes at her expense and flirting will lead to threats of/actual violence.
Dweeb. Naive and annoying. Will irritate the rest of the crew by voicing the "correct" opinion of the writers while to rest ignore him.
Kookie Girl. She's a little bit weird guys, but it's all to cover he dark past and hide from herself.
Bitch. Thinks she's in charge, likes quoting the rulebook and demands that the crew do what she says because of article 6.B of the Seyuentee charter. Naive compared to the rest of the "battle hardened" crew. Everyone ignores her.
