Reminder that STILL no one in history has even managed to break 2 billion apart from James Cameron.
>>
And all TFA shills will flock here to deny it.

Did you see it in IMAX 3D? No? Then shaddafugup.
Much like Interstellar, it was an experience more than a movie.

>>64389751
While it certainly had big marketing it was nothing compared to Star Wars marketing.
Actually I only heard of it through word of mouth about muh 3D.

Just wait for China.

He breeds a unique race of jews for this purpose.

It is said he has over six million in a tank in his Beaufort Vineyard and Estate Winery. The craftiest that have spawned are kept alive in jars and made to work for their master. The rest are ground up as kosher fish food.

There is literally nothing the man can not do.

You think they will make 1 billion dollars alone in China? Piracy is big there and it is being released late. No doubt some money will be lost to pirated copies. Not only that but star wars is not as big there as it is here. The popularity of TFA is due in part to this being the first Star Wars many have seen despite hearing about it constantly. Star Wars is also talked up heavily by nostalgia babies. Star Wars wasnt released in China long ago enough for nostalgia babies to cream about it. TFA will just be another movie for the Chinese market. Nothing sentimental to push butts into the theater nor will popular culture encourage them to see it. I am predicting 300mil max. People will flock to it as if it were just another run of the mil action movie

how come he made that much movie money but he's not a jew?????

I think star wars over saturated the market with their advertising i was already getting sick of it before the movie came out, they have star wars makeup for fucks sake
>>
It was only because it successfully brought back 3D to cinemas.

>James Cameron did it with a completely new stand-alone IP that only had one trailer to market it

>Disney could only do it with a sequal of a prequel of another prequel of yet another prequel that came after another sequel that came following another sequel paired up with a fuckload spent on the hype and viral machines

>HOORAY DISNEY! WINNING!

How cute that the space-capeshit fags think they've accomplished something.

>>64390711
It wasn't intended to win awards. Cameron knows how to win awards and they clearly weren't his goal. Also it wasn't instantly forgotten at all

Explain in 5 words or more and in less than 4000 characters how 3D is a fad.

It was because his name was attached to it, with a track record of Terminator, Aliens and Titanic.

>Explain in 5 words or more and in less than 4000 characters how 3D is a fad.
It costs more to produce, requires cranking up the projection bulb and shortening its life, projectionists refuse to do this making it a headache to watch, and requires actual 'silver screens' to project on to be competently seen.

3D has so far not provided enough return on investment in terms of which version most filmgoers will choose.

It's a pity but facts are facts.

you guys are iignoring the fact that tfa got to 1b light years before avatar or titanic and its still going retardedly strong. why you fucking autists defend one of the most mediocre, forgetful movies of existence is fucking beyond me. unless its because everyone hates it then thay makes sense seeing as no one who likes avatar can form their own opinion
>>
>>64392378
"It's more expensive" is not a good reason, actually it only fortifies 3D's artistic value since the only problem is money and not something inherently wrong with the technology itself.
Back in the day people thought color would ruin movies because b&w was part of the charm but it's simply the logical progression, 3D just didn't catch on yet because it's expensive and needs glasses but that doesn't make it a fad.
>>
>>64392493
They tried 3D in the 50's and it didn't stuck around, nowadays 3D movies are barely marketed.
>>
>>64392476

The technology wasn't there yet, anaglyph 3D looks absolutely horrible.
The polarized tech they use nowadays is fairly good but you have to wear shit and people are afraid of looking like dorks in a dark room for some reason.
Once they figure out a way to make it glassless and not negatively affect the overall picture quality it's going to become the absolute norm.

VR too was tried in the 90's but it sucked ass because of the poor technology, but now with Rift and Vive coming in just a few months we will finally see good consumer-grade VR which should be pretty revolutionary.
