There was a lot of talk about it.
Despite what everyone says, you can't deny that this film had some of the best editing in recent memory.

Anon, you're done.
>>64388305
not as good as sound of noise
>>64388305
It's pretty great. Some of the dialogue near the beginning of the film is pretty cringe worthy and thecar crashscene felt a little forced, but besides that it was great. It had an amazing ending desu.
>>64388346
>2014 was three years ago
>>64388305
Perfect movie imho. What a movie!
God-tier flick, but still not better than Birdman which was a decent film
>>64388305
I don't see how this can be characterized as a masterpiece. The performances are great, especially Simmons, but the plot and cinematography are obviously derivative of Black Swan.
>>64388305
/tv/ did talk about it when it came out and as you can see by this thread it was nothing but stupid memes
>>64391713
but how was it on the kino scale? two or three bags of popcorn?
>>64388305
The ending of a movie has never left me feeling so invigorated before in my life.

Actually a very accurate statement. Not arthouse but still a very high-brow production for what it was. I really enjoyed it.

I spend a decent enough time with a number of my musician friends while constantly trying to listen to new music. That doesn't make me some kind of authority on tempo, but my life seems to be surrounded by music and its analysis. I think my ears are quite sensitive to subtle changes in volume, tone, pitch, rhythm, etc. For me personally, I couldn't hear any difference in Neiman's tempo. Though you have to remember that when Fletcher was correcting him, Neiman would only continue playing for a second or two before being interrupted again. So there was a very short amount of time to really analyze whether or not Neiman was dragging/rushing, let alone how his personal tempo compared to Fletcher's ideal. I just watched the movie a few days ago, by the way. If I had to say one or the other, I think Fletcher was lying to Neiman on purpose. Fletcher had to plant the seed of doubt within Neiman in order for him to grow into a better musician.
Non musicians and hacks loved it. Real musicians hated it cuz the basic premise of the movie is not true.

Forgetful. I didn't even remember it existed until you brought up. Definitely a film I can live without. I usually give this kind of film a 1/10 but it's not even that. I give 1/10 for films that are excruciatingly and painfully terrible, so bad you wish you have never seen them, but like traumatic childhood experiences, no matter how much you try to forget they never go away. Whiplash it's more like a tedious, dull celluloid waste, it has all the qualities of a terrible film without being memorable enough in a bad way. A 2/10 its more like it
>>64394615
Its a movie for non musicians! Nobody was playing out of tune either.

Should have won the Best Picture Oscar
>>64395206

>>64395099
That is how one great musician claims he got his shit together. 99.9% of all other greats had the drive to be the best without that happening.

lol. was literally expecting him to have a heart attack and drop dead at the end right there. old fart can play i guess.
>>64394995
Yeah, it's obviously exaggerated because no one has time to deal with accurate depiction of music school. Movies wouldn't be as fun if they tried to get every single aspect of the movie accurate.
