Reminder that Kylo's lightsaber makes perfect sense, in irl medieval times swords had metal cross guards as when swords clash, one of the swords will want to slide down the blade of their opponent, the cross guard stops the blade from slicing your hand off, it also allows you to catch your opponents blade in the 90 degree angle of your sword/cross guard and manipulate it.
In the canon SW universe the only known thing to stop a lightsaber blade, is another lightsaber blade/laser. So the cross guards are mini lightsabers. At first this made no sense as kylo's saber has small emitters coming from the swords hilt that would be slice off in the event of such a lightsaber clash/slide. Rendering the cross guards useless. But now we know that they are not emitters, but they are just metal shrouds to prevent kylo from accidentally cutting his fingers off while using this saber. In the event of a clash/slide these shrouds would be cut through, yes, but there would be the base of the cross guard beneath it, stopping it.
Tl;dr: Kylo's sabre makes perfect sense.

oh wow right into the bin
not sure why you typed the rest of that out

wew lad

Yeah, but that weapon was still a kind of energy weapon, there is no raw material that can stop a lightsaber.
>>64383756
It makes sense because it's based off an ancient design that's less efficient and requires exhaust ports.
>>64384075
yeah but it s not a light saber is it, so the statement was wrong
Instead of exhaust ports, why not just have a thicker and more unstable saber?
>>64384075
>no raw material that can stop a lightsaber.
nice one m8o
I dunno why people would hate on crossguards. They make perfect sense and have been used as offensive tools in medieval times too and when Ren and Finn were locked in a Lightsaber battle and Ren burnt Finn's shoulder the superiority of having cross guards compared to not having them became apparent
>>64383756
>get into a lightsaber lock
>foe presses your saber against you
>you enjoy the new hot meaty fuckhole for your boyfriend in your chest
Makes perfect since.
>>64384407
Yes, there is none, what was wrong with that statement, m8o?
>>64384075
Stop being such a pedantic cunt, it doesn't get you friends.

Kylo's sabre does make sense, but you don't.
He didn't make it like that because it's better, I am sure he would take Darth Vader's lightsaber instead of his if he could.
He made it like that because the crystal inside the hilt is cracked and therefore unstable so the lightsaber can't go in one beam so he made 2 vents to the side so it can function properly. It's not like he has a lightsaber factory full of crystals so he can make whatever he wants
And the sabre isn't just for show, it is the extension of his character: highly unstable, crude and amateur build but very powerful. The new design actually has some purpose and meaning unlike Darth Maul's double lightsaber just for the hell of it

>unlike Darth Maul's double lightsaber just for the hell of it
Can't believe I'm actually going to defend Maul, but the double-sided lightsaber reflected his character just fine. He was disciplined and fully aligned with the Dark side, but also a giant attention whore in terms of his appearance. It makes complete sense that a character like that would wield a weapon such as the double-sided saber to show off his style and jedi gayboy power level.
