I love TNG, and, as much hate as it gets, Voyager as well ( probably because it's the most 'recent' of the shows. ) I never did get into DS9, but I've heard good things. Is it really worth watching? Does it actually bridge the gap between Next Generation and Voyager? The few episodes I remember watching from 20 years ago when it actually aired on TV were meh at best. Because I'm a huge nut for DS9, and about a year ago we started watching TNG. Just kind of spits and spats. Haven't finished it yet, but we're finally in Season 7. That being said, I feel like he hasn't been in half the episodes we've watched. Obviously we're not marathonning this, and we've skipped episodes here-and-there (just not out-of-order), BUT, when I do see Miles, I make a little gesture at the TV and say "Oh, there's my boy!" or something to that effect. She thinks it's a big joke and is in on it. Calling him when she sees him before I do.
It's just, he hasn't really done anything. We've missed nearly every episode that features him even passingly prominently. I got the tickle to go and check and see how many episodes he's in. It's fuckin' 52. I'm sure more than two-thirds of those are just "transporter chief, standing at his console" but THAT MEANS I'll have to sift through those to find the meatier episodes.

Ever hear the statistics about how, the older you are when you have a kid, the more likely it is to have a horrible genetic disorder? It's like that, they don't just have fresh DNA, they're dipping into their extant DNA, which by that point had been "copied" (probably) hundreds of times. So if a person lived to be about 60 or even 160, just add up all those ages, because the newborns would be genetically that old. I think that's how it was explained.
If that isn't how it was, maybe they just had a shit cloning method, because it rightly should be a digital process. Like replication, only smaller. Always make new DNA from a backup file.
