warner bros. and the other animation studios that weren't disney wanted to keep cartoons as a medium for all kinds of work. How we have adult cartoons now, they wanted to have adult cartoons back then, and they did. Disney though pushed cartoons as a children's only medium and fucking marketed as such until all the other studios had to do the same in order to survive. So yeah, fuck Disney.
