Eh, the world was a lot shittier than the film led on.

The book explained that most of humanity left on Earth had side effects of radiation and chemical warfare from WW3, or something was genetically wrong with them. Deckard was constantly harassed to move to offworld colonies with his wife because they were healthy, but he elected to stay.

People also don't do much in home entertainment other than this dream machine thing that makes you feel whatever emotions you want.

But I really wish our cities looked like Blade Runner.

No one predicted that we would have something with more computing power than the computers that took us to the Moon that was small enough to fit into our hand and be a multipurpose tool and mode of entertainment.

Have you seen what 19th and early 20th century pre New Wave sci-fi came up with?

Sure it isn't anything like what we have today, but it is very imaginative.

At least we are starting to have self-driving cars. The more we have, the less accidents there will be.

I find it really amusing that all the self-driving cars that have been in wrecks were not at fault, it was almost always someone else sideswiping the car or fender bender caused by someone rear ending them.

That's how pre-production works. You do know films are the results of many ideas, all edited together - they aren't just created immaculately knowing exactly what's needed, right? There's exploration to be done before production.

Eh, it wasn't that bad. If it were better recorded and acted it would have fit perfectly fine in a noir film like Blade Runner.

Some scenes did expound upon certain characters' motivations. It was interesting.

I'll admit half the time it was jarring.

I think it was mostly cut because Ford says "nigger."

There is a shitty low budget TV series called Charlie Jade that has a really good dystopia, everyone is microchipped and you can't do shit without one, massive wealth divide, constant spying, nations are done away with and corporations own cities.

The main character goes to an alternative reality which is actually us and your can see the contrasts and we are actually one step away from his universe.

Except Monsanto has not sued a single farmer for using their seeds without "permission."

They also aren't the seed company that most farmers get their seeds from, DuPont. They aren't owned by a CEO whose son got off from punishment for raping his own 3 year old daughter.

We already have the capability of doing that [see how cheaply and how much microchip tech has advanced for pets], its just fundamental Christians will go insane because apparently Revelations says something about barcodes.

Though I do think that all of their activities need to be monitored to make sure they don't monopolize. But that will probably happen if DuPont doesn't squeeze them out first, seeing how wonderfully our government is handling monopolies these days.

All I can think of now is this, and the subsequent corporation ruling the world biz.

>Do you recommend it?
Sure, it starts off kinda procedural, so they could con the network into buying into it. There's a lot of slow unveiling of the backstory. Season 2 and 3 are really good, then by season 4 it's so serialised it's kinda battling with its original story engine. It's also kinda gone off the deep end by that point, some of it doesn't work, but a lot of it is good.

It deals with ideas that are so on the edge of current events that they practically predicted the stuff in the Snowden leaks
>>
>>64358221
This, it'll probably made bland and identical to any other current blockbuster so that it's "safe".

Hollywood is creatively bankrupt but the the masses eat their bland shit up anyway.

This, I don't have faith in a Blade Runner 2, especially since it has to be all new material and they cannot base it off another medium of entertainment.

Beware that it's garnered something of a Tumblr audience. This is also something that becomes kinda overt in season 4. According to Tumblr to two male leads are gay with each other and the two female leads that come in later in the show are also gay with each other. And the show listened to them.

Also note only snippets of the show are seen from the AI's POV

The city is overcrowded yet entire buildings are seemingly deserted, it's so smoggy you rarely, if ever, see blue sky, hardly anyone seems to be able to afford proper lighting, the streets are filled with garbage, large corporations basically control everything and we use genetically enhanced humans as literal space slaves. It's mentioned a bunch of times that off-world is the place to be, probably because most shitty jobs are carried out by previously mentioned space slaves.

I mean, clearly America took a wrong turn at some point and just ended up reverting to the 19th century in terms of social order. The only real plus seems to be that at least some people have flying cars.

〔〔 〕〕 〔 〕 The story goes like this: Earth is captured by a technocapital singularity as renaissance rationalitization and oceanic navigation lock into commoditization take-off. Logistically accelerating techno-economic interactivity crumbles social order in auto-sophisticating machine runaway. As markets learn to manufacture intelligence, politics modernizes, upgrades paranoia, and tries to get a grip.

The body count climbs through a series of globewars. Emergent Planetary Commercium trashes the Holy Roman Empire, the Napoleonic Continental System, the Second and Third Reich, and the Soviet International, cranking-up world disorder through compressing phases. Deregulation and the state arms-race each other into cyberspace.

By the time soft-engineering slithers out of its box into yours, human security is lurching into crisis. Cloning, lateral genodata transfer, transversal replication, and cyberotics, flood in amongst a relapse onto bacterial sex.

Neo-China arrives from the future.

Hypersynthetic drugs click into digital voodoo.

Retro-disease.

Nanospasm.

There wasn't exactly a lot of clean alternatives at the time and even if there were we didn't really know much about pollution in general to justify using them Chinese leaders knew exactly what was going to happen in terms of pollution and could just look at the past as a indicator.

However all China want is rapid economic growth. If the fastest way to grow their economy was to literally murder half of the population they probably would have done so by now.

tumblr is actually a really great way to find neat artwork, it's really easy to doge the parts that you don't want to see.

And it couldn't even if it tried. Planet eucumenopolis would have an ambient temp. of something like 275 F as it's average.

It actually isn't that bad to go to Deviantart
Browse Digital Art>Paintings and Airbrushings>Sci-Fi and use their little SitBack function to look at some wonderful art

Anon, it would make more sense from the perspective of the sheer scale LA had become in the film. No to mention the off world colonies. Iirc, there was to be a scene in space related to the Replicants coming to Earth, the ship looked like it came out of Alien and you briefly see North America at night. Most of the country looked as if it had become "mega-cities" for lack of a better term.

True, about the outerspace technology. I think that in 50 years we will have the ability to make robots look eerily human. Like we have the ability to clone humans probably now, but scientific ethic prevails.

Have you seen how much Seoul has changed in 50 or so years?
