I've had music instructors that said some pretty similar things during practices. Obviously not at that level, but pretty close. When I consider that they were normally pretty level-headed I can see how someone with a personality that already leaned that way could get pretty extreme. All in all, I didn't find it immersion breaking, but that's just me.
