he could have had Phoenix Wright and Atticus Finch defending him against a child and he would have lost

this is so true because a rich kid never would have been in that room without a lawyer, meaning he would never have confessed and none of this would have happened.

Dude rich people have their own lawyers, so when the parents were told by the police "we're interviewing your kid now, you can't come in it has to be alone" immediately they call up THEIR lawyer and say can they do this? "no they can't"

And from that moment on Brandon/rich kid would be absolutely safe because they would know they don't have to say ANYTHING.

I don't get why people are so upset about the interrogation of Dassey. It's just because he's a retard that doesn't know any better.

Blame the jury for that. The detectives were just doing their jobs. Shady techniques for sure, but that's the way it goes.

At the end of the day it's the jury who must decide. I was on a jury in a similar case myself. A woman with an IQ of 70 was accused of murdering her boyfriend. The key evidence was her initial interview with police (no lawyer present) where she was too dumb to realize that she was burying herself. The police kept pushing her to give the answers they wanted to hear.

The defense argued that she was too traumatized by the event and possibly still drunk during the interview so we couldn't convict solely on that.

The judge made it clear to us that we must decide for ourselves what to make of this 'confession'.

We found her her guilty but if she had just kept her mouth shut (or had a lawyer to tell her to keep her mouth shut) she almost certainly would have got away with murder.

>This key proves everything
>This key only has the DNA of Avery on it
>This key doesnt matter, in fact all of the other evidence matters

>Ignore the fact that the Rav4 had her blood in it
>Ignore the fact that her pelvic bones were found in the quarry
>Ignore the fact the Colbourn called in the plates 3 days before the car was found
>Ignore the fact that Brandons story was lead on by cops, and that there is zero DNA evidence after a brutal rape

So if i have this right:
>Steve tied her to the bed and raped her
>Brandon raped her
>Steve stabbed her
>Brandon stabbed her
>They slit her throat
>Strangled her
>Dragged her into the garage
>Shot her 11 times
>Bullet was found 4 months later

That right there is what pissed me off, say what you want about Steve, but there is no way Brandon was linked to this

Do you know how expensive it is when criminals re offend and go back into prison instead of actually contributing to society and going on to pay taxes and shit?

Do you know how potentially dangerous it is to have all these disenfranchised minorities who truly believe the system is stacked against them?
>>
>>64344167
free lawyers are great
look at the one brendan got lel
>>
>>64345930
If prisons weren't privately owned, the government would have more of an incentive to keep people out of prison as opposed to jailing Tyrone for smoking a blunt.
>>
>>64345983
kek its like you just copy and pasted a bunch of talking points from leddit

maybe they shouldn't re offend?

if you think you can actually "rehabilitate" some of these people i have some very bad news for you
>>
>>64345975
I honestly think Brendan has been brainwashed enough that he believes to some extent he really did take part in his own fantasy.
>>
>>64346007
you do realize for profit prisons are not the majority of prisons, right?
>>
>>64345975

Brendan is innocent for sure. You can forget his story.

She was never in Steve's garage/shed/cabin. he killed her outside and the cops planted evidence to ensure a conviction.

That's my guess.
>>
>>64346077
Every prison the government doesnt own is for profit prison
>>
>>64346038
Maybe they won't re offend if you teach them how to be a proper citizen in prison rather then having them hang around a bunch of criminals, and then force them to work for you.

Also maybe if you did this you could figure out the people who can be rehabilitated from the people who can't. Then people wouldn't be so fucking afraid of hiring an ex-con.

>>64346058
That is how the brain works so it wouldn't be surprising at all. For example if you see a car crash and a car is red, but someone tells you after that the car is blue, years later for whatever reason your brain will recall the incident as involving a blue car.

There is not enough evidence for me to say if Steven did it or not

Saying hes not Guilty doesnt mean he didnt do it, it just means i cant say that i can prove he did it.

Steve had no motive, the evidence theyve shown could link several other individuals to the murder and not a single one of them were interviewed or looked into

If i had to guess, the two hunters were out by the quarry that night, and a guy who was filling up propane saw the vehicle leave and head out that way.

The Cops wanted Steve guilty, that doesnt mean they killed her, but i do believe they planted the evidence.

How many officers were reprimanded for the broken seal on the blood vial?
>>
>>64346278
I think my point is that maybe the cost of actually rehabilitating these people is worth not having disenfranchised minorities with an explicit hatred for the government, because that's a real danger to America, not paying more taxes

Also if you look up your military budget, or cash spent on Israel you really think you could spend a little fucking more on your own citizens, even though they did something wrong.
>>
>>64346381
the money we give to israel is earmarked and they can only spend it in the u.s

it's of no importance how much we give israel because it's basically a subsidy for our own defense manufacturerers
>>
>>64346428
Just a drop in the pool of our money spent on the military.

600 billion dollars this year. You really don't think there's enough money to have proper prisons?

Is the "cost" really too much or is that just a faggy argument for a real faggy poster.
>>
>>64346428
i'm waiting anon...

why not take the 3 billion given to Israel for WEAPONS and say let's give it to our own American citizens!!

and not the weapons manufacturers! criminals are still citizens.

>and how does defense manufacturers having money help actual US. citizens?

because they employ u.s citizens

it's not all earmarked, but just look up u.s aid to israel on google, most of the money we give them is just circled back into our own economy when they purchase our weapons.

why not social security, the real problem and is twice the percentage of our budget than the military?

Why do you have to blatantly lie?

social security is under 5% of the federal budget, but let's just say that number is 10% just for fun.

The military budget is 50% at least.

We were having such a nice discussion as well, then you have to come in and lie like that anon...

We don't have all the evidence. Not even close to all of it. The Dassey interviews were hours long. We saw about 3 or 4 minutes of it carefully edited to make the detectives look as bad as possible.

Of course I can't say he's guilty beyond reasonable doubt while I'm sat at my computer watching a fraction of the evidence.

11 jurors had all the evidence and they found him guilty.

>>
>>64348114
We arent even talking about rewards here, we are talking about tactics, so I dont even get the shit you are bringing up.

Even if its state vs whoever the state has far more money/resources while the other generally doesnt, so the state can stall, and would, and do.

I have questions
The car and the key are the easy set up shit same with the bullet casing
Did they test the bones so they matched with Teresa?
Who really murdered her? Was it the police? Did a civilian murder her and the police find the body then work out the plan to set Steven up?
I hate watching shit like this because for the the rest of my life I will think about this case.

Also note that there are constitutional protections against the state using stall tactics.

>In all criminal prosecutions, the accused shall enjoy the right to a speedy and public trial, by an impartial jury of the State and district wherein the crime shall have been committed, which district shall have been previously ascertained by law, and to be informed of the nature and cause of the accusation; to be confronted with the witnesses against him; to have compulsory process for obtaining witnesses in his favor, and to have the Assistance of Counsel for his defence.[1]

There appears to be no evidence of malfeasance by the state. There seems only to be evidence of an overburdened judicial system. Still the good faith actions of the state may be illegal, but on grounds that more money must be appropriated for use in criminal prosecution.
