nyone else excited to see our classic boy in another great lead?

Dano is going to smash this part.
>>
>>64333318
Yes.
>>
I want to see more of Lily Jame's hairy forearms, but it looks like she waxed for this. She had really nice looking black arm hair.
>>
The BBC doesn't have the budget to do it justice, even in the era of CGI.
>>
>>64333318
>Dano didn't gained 25 kg of weight for the role
What a shitty actor.
>>
All I know about this movie is that originally it was called "War; what is it good for?"
>>
>>64333474
That's wrong though.

Where do you think our TV license money goes to?
>>
>>64333508
Israel.
>>
>>64333508
Bureaucrats pockets and since this is screenwork union kickbacks.
The bbc can do a nice personal period drama just fine, but whenever they attempt to tackle an epic then it's comically underfunded.
>>
>>64333558
More like Saudi Arabia, to be honest.
>>
>"the names piece, warren piece"
Jesus Christ who writes this shit
>>
Reminder that Sonya was best girl. Maria a shit.
>>
>>64333474
You underestimate BBC Cymru Wales as a television production company.
>>
>>64333658
Wikipedia says their entire budget for the year is about 45million dollarydoos.
You couldn't do a popper version of war and peace with the entirety of that money, and I'm sure they have more national stuff to produce besides this so it won't even be 45m.
>>
>>64333774
I presume BBC Worldwide and The Weinstein Company are financing it, as well as worldwide pre-orders from national or cable broadcasters.
>>
>>64333774
I just saw a preview for it on BBC One and it looked fucking awesome.

What makes you think it'll be shit just because it doesn't have a $120mil Hollywood budget in which half goes to advertising and the rest distributed between producer fees, licensing for music and actors. 10% will actually go to the film.

Meanwhile in a BBC production, 100% goes towards the production while the rest of BBC takes care of promotion etc.
>>
>>64333774
They have the Weinstein Company providing extra funding
>>
>>64333830
>What makes you think it'll be shit just because it doesn't have a $120mil Hollywood budget
Again, every other bbc outing I've seen before. As soon as they depart from sets the size of a drawing room they remind you this is a television production.
I'm not saying they're incompetent, they simply do what they can.

There are a lot of talented people working in the film and television industry in the UK, it'll be shot well and look good at least.
>>
>>64333318
Based Dano.

Hell yeah
>>
>>64333992
They're good at doing what they can with what they have but looking at the preview the battles don't even have division strength combatants.
If they stylistically don't want to work out the rest with vfx I respect that but it is what it is. They don't have enough asses in costume to shoot this.
>>
>>64334057
Don't worry, the American version will have CGI cavalry, CGI linesmen, lens flare and Paul Dano will make a fart joke during the final curtain.
>>
>>64334102
I actually prefer budget be saved by dialing in the camera. That's obviously the classic way to do it. But it's not befitting War and Peace and typical of the bbc.
>>
>>64334057
Reminds me that they had to CGI the very short battle scene (Waterloo) for the series Jonathan Strange & Mr Norrell, which to be fair wasn't overly bad. Other CGI elements throughout the series were good considering the budget.

If Kubrick can do shots like this, why can't BBC?

>>
>>64333318
I hate Dano and I don't know why.

Maybe it's his eminently punchable face.
>>
>>64334646
Well it was shot and filmed with the help of British production talent, especially the cinematographer, so maybe.
>>
>>64333499
I've heard this before. I think it probably sounds less goofy in Russian.
>>
>>64334819
The proper translation is 'War and Society' according to my Russian friend.
>>
Doesn't he play a cuck in this? Sad desu.

Your friend is confusing "мipъ" with "миpъ". In modern Russian, both words are now spelled "миp".
>>

There are people moaning on youtube that it's meant to be 'War and the World'.

What is the budget of this anyway?
>>
>>64335456
Less than Doctor Who.
>>
>>64335456
>The budget for the production is undisclosed but the involvement of the Weinstein Company is felt throughout. The battle scenes, although not quite Hollywood standard, are far more effective and more ambitious than anything previously seen on British TV.

Other says it's around £10million.

Americans always translate the name of this book wrong! In 19th century Russian languare the word "mir" had 3 meanings: peace, world and society. The correct translation would actually be "War and Society" because that's what the author intended it to be.

>>
>>64333474
Well they did a pretty good job in the 70s. It looks a little crummy but considering most of it is talking you don't really need the GoT sort of budget.
