Disgraceful.

CHD use sub-15 bitrates often and their encodes are highly respected
>>
I've been downloading movies for at least 10 years. At first I was happy just watching any dvdrip encoded in xvid or whatever shit I could find.

My autism forced me to get movies in 1080p DTS-HD MA since I built my 5.1 setup and watch movies on my TV through HDMI

Now I'm getting more and more of those I liked on blurays because archiving 15gb movies gets difficult really quickly.
>>
>>64322811
The difference between 12mbps and 15mbps is highly noticeable even on my shitty 22-inch monitor.

> Download 8gb 1080p SPARKS rip
> Movie has black lines that cover half the fucking screen
God fucking damn it, what the fuck is the point then, I would have downloaded 720p 3gb if I knew that both of the had fucking massive black lines
>>
>not 4k UHD at least
Cum on, it's 2016

Are you retarded or this is bait?
>>
>>64322923
That's a really vague statement. Far more goes into movie encodes than raw bitrate, which is variable in the first place. You've got crf and quantization parameters with x264 and that's just the surface. The people doing these encodes know their stuff.

I think you're just talking shit, my man.

What do you mean ? Most of the movies I download are fullscreen, they don't have that artificial shit that covers half the screen, Its probably Cinema Screen rip or something
>>
I watch movies in ultrawide 1440p 144 fps
>>
>>64323287
That's the format the movie is filmed in. If a bluray rip has huge fucking bars, it's probably because the movie is supposed to have huge fucking bars.

If you're not happy with them just crop or stretch with your media player.
>>
I only watch cinema at 15fps in reverse, with the audio track running at 90bpm
>>
>>64323287
I've seen that a few times, not as much in the past few years. If you have MPC-HC you can use the Numpad numbers and Ctrl+numpad numbers to resize it or even change the aspect ratio.

>>64323330
Why not 8k?

Name a movie that has that on purpose through the entire film.

Pretty much 90% of movies released? They're in 2:40:1

What is the correct way to view film outside of the cinema...do I stick with my u torrent vlc 200% volume combo? Is there a better way?
>>
>>64323580
mpv + Deluge/Transmission/Qbittorrent + RARBG internal encodes/SPARKS scene encodes

Private trackers are a cool luxury if you can get on one but the above combo is my modus operandi and I love it

Download the Kawaii Codec Pack, even if it's for weebs it's really the best one.

You get Media Player Classic + MadVR, which really improves the image quality. Use the highest preset during the install and you're set.

Then connect your graphics card through HDMI to your receiver. Check the LAV Audio filter in MPC so that DTS, DTS HD, DD, True HD and all are set to bitstream.

Then enjoy your downloaded movies at maximum home comfy quality.
>>
>>64323560
Anon is referring to black bars in the tops and bottom of the movie, which is HARDCODED into the video. So, when you are going full screen even on a wide screen there's black bars on top and bottom. Unlike other films with the same exact ratio only without the hardcoded black bars.

Wait.....are you using a wide screen monitor?
>>
>>64323656
Now break that down into very small words and simple explanations. Like you were addressing a drunk retard

Bluray rips never ever have hardcoded black bars, what are you talking about.
>>
>>64323846
mpv = objectively the best media player

Deluge/Transmission/Qbittorrent = best torrent clients. I prefer Deluge it's the most reliable

RARBG encodes are pretty much the best you find on public trackers, although actually they're all stolen from privates. Idgaf though.

SPARKS are a good backup if you can't find anything better.
>>
>>64323930
How is mpv better than mpc?

Some "rips" are taken off the disc by the uploader then re-encoded or even recorded again via their own stream that captures the entire screen desktop. Then they upload this version and call it a "rip" which it isn't it is a re-sample, but they are idiots so they call it a "rip" in the torrent name.

This is why on some "rips" you see the fucking windows start bar at the bottom or a mouse cursor go across the screen a time or two. Oh, and their screen is like old CRT 4:3 so you get MASSIVE black bars at the bottom and top of the screen. So you have to stretch that shit out in your video player.

>>64323560
That isn't what we are referring to actually.
>>
>>64324134
Again, good quality bluray rips never do this. Only reencodes in mp4 that you shouldn't download do.
Actually I've never seen one of those you're talking about in years.
