OP starts off the topic with literally the worst suggestion, you wasted trips on this.

Just working off anecdotal evidence here, never was able to find anyone who remembers this

>>64319145

I actually liked it, shame the soccer moms put it six feet under
>>
>>64319111
I remember. I will always remember.

I love how they felt like they had the next Harry Potter on their hands.
>>
>>64319145
No. Fuck you. This book was my favorite childhood book and I was so excited for this movie. It's shit. It's shit and fuck you for bringing it up, let alone calling it a classic.

They've made a bunch of these that nobody has watched.
>>
>>64319111

do you have problems anon
>>
OP here, I actually tried to b8 into get more replies
What I really meant by "classics" was movies that attempted to become the next LotR or Harry Potter but failed miserably.
>>64319763 is a prime example.
>>
>>64319728
how about the fact that the series evolves into "God is an asshole that stole the glory of the universe and oppresses all of existence let's team up with Lucifer and kill him" and also how one of the "good guys" of this film (because they didn't do it at the end) would have to open the second movie with killing a child to power their magic machine

also the whole killing children thing in general present in the movie already
>>
>>64320117
man, I wish I had read the other books. I read only the first and thought it was kinda boring.
>>
>>64319145
not a classic
>>
>>64320199
There is still time, I reread it recently and the writing still holds up. If anything, it's more enjoyable reading it as an adult. Despite it being a "Young Adult" series, it's mostly only the length that really adheres to that.
>>
>>64320117

The movie softened that whole anti-religion aspect to the point where they could get away with it even though it took away a lot of the best aspect... but then it was shitcanned anyway because "the movie might entice viewers to read the books" lol. I feel bad for those involved, they were fucked sideways. Dunno what they were thinking... ambitious of them though.
>>
>>64320343

I think I'm regressing... been steadily working my way through Animorphs the past week and now I have your YA suggestion added
>>
>>64320360
It's true they softened it a lot, but there is literally no getting around it, especially if they planned on finishing up the series. They avoided it all in the first, but vaguely hinted at it. They knew they had to do it eventually, but they delayed the inevitable by sweeping it under the rug. I really don't know what they thought they were going to do. You can't avoid those themes in the book.

Thank fuck it flopped.

>>64320469
Animorphs is god-tier. Another masterpiece disguised as "Young Adult."
>>
>>64319239
Why do mongs like the Tolkien cartoons where Hobbits look like Downs cunts?
>>
>>64319654
>>64319825

The cunnyfu was super strong in this one, shame she had to age
>>
>>64320527
>Animorphs is god-tier
It got confusing as fuck when they started the whole "war" thing, by the last 15 books 12 year old me had no clue what was happening, then I tried to read that space travel series, which was even weirder.
>>
>>64320117
So autistic projection, got it
>>
>>64320969
I won't deny that, but hey man, as long as it's well-written and has good characters.. who cares?
>>
Since when were the Narnia movies ever "classic"??

The books sure, but not the fucking movies
>>
>>64319111
You remembered it, therefore you proved yourself wrong OP
>>
>>64321565
Actually he proved he was a literal nobody
>>
>>64319239
The back of the VHS case says something about Bilbo rather being at home eating buttered muffins. My mates had a running joke that that was a euphemism for muff diving.
>>
>>64321540
I think OP is referring to it being hailed as a classic on release, hence the quotation marks.
I could be wrong.

Golden Compass written by atheist
Forgettable movie, nice visuals but forgettable.

Narnia written by noted Christian theologian and Educator. Lots of thoughtful stuff about ethics, morality and how to live.

Look at which was successful as a movie adaptation.

They're literally the same thing. No, like, literally, the writers were best friends and met every Thursday to write their shit at the same time, in the same room

Didn't the guy who directed the first two Narnia movies work second unit on LoTR movies as well?

I'm not sure. Some of the Simillarion is heavily inspired by the writings of Lewis, thought

>According to biographer A. N. Wilson, Lewis wrote the novel after a conversation with J.R.R. Tolkien in which both men lamented the state of contemporary fiction. They agreed that Lewis would write a space-travel story, and Tolkien would write a time-travel one. Tolkien's story only exists as a fragment, published in The Lost Road and other writings (1987) edited by his son Christopher.

There is a fan theory that Narnia/Middle-Earth actually take place in the same world, only follow the pattern above. A few similarities between them are names, locations, and shit like both worlds being sung into creation.
>>
>>64326882
I always assumed it was something like that, or a multiverse thing. Polly and Digby never explore every pond in the midway ''dimension''.
>>

The game on Wii was fun.
