I just saw the first episode of Enterprise, having never watched the show. I've seen all the other series multiple times.
What did I just see?
- A U.S. military captain barking at his subordinates. He threatened to beat up the vulcan chick 5 minutes in. Also, he calls her "Ta-pall" instead of "t-pOl"
- A racist as fuark vulcan who has better hips and arse than 7.
- A vulcan who is way more emotional than Tuvok or Spock or Vorik.
- Everyone having their orders changed from a short trip to a long-term trip, no one complains.
- A chickenshit Asian female who keeps saying "g-g-g-ghosts! run scooby!"
- Some generic ugly ugly aliens as the bad guys. Usually aliens this ugly are one-off bad guys, but it looks like theyre here to stay.
- Terrible CGI, no pretty spaceship models as in TNG or Voy.
Still, it was acceptable, and i'm hoping it will improve. Is this what i'm in for?
It'll be a steaming pile of shit until season 3 when it turns into some good trek right up until cancellation was imminent.
Its irritating how it starts to get good and find its feet like all Trek series do after a few seasons (TOS aside) only to be cut down so savagely.
>>64316376
I wouldn't marathon it. I watched it a couple of episodes at a time on SciFi channel and enjoyed most of it. I don't think I saw anything in order or even all of them, but I did sometimes remember to tune in to watch the 2 episodes they would show at a time.
>>64316376
This is the beginning of the Federations march into space and the inter species relations are very different than what you see on TNG or later shows. Most Aliens are still pretty hostile towards each other. It definitely has a more military research and diplomacy thing than a noble exploration feel. The T'Pol emotions thing get's explained and becomes part of a story arc, Sato improves immensely and more so than TOS or the JJ Star Trek shows the importance of having and how intelligent the comms officer of an interplanetary vessel has to be. It was really one of the neatest things to me about the series. I think it has this over arching thing about time travel at some point that was just terrible. And in an effort to be different they have the like 4 or 5 species of intelligent space traveling aliens that all evolved on the same planet but you never see them again throughout Star Trek. Those were the rough parts to me like the worst of the show. Everything else I remember being pretty good. OH... accept whenThe Borg show up again. That was garbage too. I feel like everything that was really awful about the show was the writers or show runners trying to give it something that stands out as the "Uniquely Enterprise" thing, and not just sticking to a rocky start to the federation and human space exploration.
>>64316874
It's kind of a strange thing how Star Trek series always get better the longer they run. Most TV series are the opposite

But while Axanar's creators argue that they can use CBS's sci-fi setting because their movie will be "totally non-commercial," Paramount Pictures and CBS, who own the rights to Star Trek, apparently disagree

her perfectly flat abs actually give her a leg up in my book over 5head of 9. the bitch is petite and the catsuit she wears is meant to accentuate the same body parts as 7 of 9's old catsuit, so they can be compared evenly.

There are qualifications but it is a bit hard to explain.
People often say TNG is reddit because of Picard's milquetoast intellectualism. Then people often say DS9 is reddit because of big action plotlines and fights full of explosions.
I chose TOS as the least because the era of its production makes it alien to the alternative-but-still-fundamentally-millenial ethos of "reddit" content. There's a lot of antiquated gender stuff, the effects are not flashy, and it balanced 'intellectual' and 'pew pew' without going too far either way.

Hell, I think when some of the TNG crew were turned back to children, someone suggests Picard go back to the academy. He scoffs and says "And what? Room with Wesley?"
They even made Wesley a senior officer in a time travel cascade, the one aware of the cascade finding this ridiculous. Honestly season 1-2 have more issues than Wesley early on, but they should still be watched.

>>64327382
Riker seems like Kirk 2.0. A dashing officer in space, doing green chicks and talking about his genitals. Data was given command of a ship to net some Romulan's supporting those Klingon sisters in the Klingon Civil War; Data had a very rocky time and was formally reprimanded.

Command takes more than pure logic. Nobody would captain right out of starfleet anyways. Also, organic beings would probably have problems taking orders from an android. He lacks basic understanding of emotions.

This is explicitly shown in one episode where he is put in charge of a federation ship. IIRC they were trying to detect a fleet of cloaked Romulans trying to slip by, but I might have the episode confused.
>>64328005
No, because nobody or at least a majority of races don't take them seriously. Even on the Enterprise, nobody respects him as much as they would a regular being.

Beware of DS9-posters.
DS9 is the #2 most-popular Star Trek on Reddit (#1 is TNG of course).
>>64332248
What is the least popular? VOY?
VOY is like redditsbane
>>64332248
how was this determined? did you actually go to rebbit?
>>64332290
Reddit hates Enterprise.
Voyager is Tumblr's favorite.
>>64332313
The third-party intermediary website of Strawpoll.

Someone I know dating a tumblerina posted this pic on FB the other day so I replied with that quote and he got so pissed lol
>>64332342
Figured as much. Outside of here opinions on Janeway seem to fall heavily along gender lines
>>64332351
>tumblerina
>memeing on facebook
>lol
/trek/ really went to shit in 2016
>>64332417
Well okay I also posted this picture along with it
>>64316376
I always liked the episode of enterprise where it was a flashback to the testing of the NX program. I wish enterprise was more like that; a bunch of test pilots and engineers learning how to make warp capable ships, like in The Right Stuff.
Is this the most shenanigan-y episode summary in all Trek? This sounds like something out of that 'TNG season 8' parody book
>>64332512
no, it's a pretty good episode.
>ywn marry a klingon and get a broken pelvis
;_;
>>64332569
don't worry, Klingons have like 4 hearts so they probably have at least 2 pelvises and some sort of multi pronged dick with those same ridges from their foreheads
>>64328026
Aren't vulcans like 6 times as strong as humans ? Does this guy know that ? Or am I wrong ?
>>64332688
That was never a thing until the JJ movies.
Almost all races in Star Trek have roughly the same strength. The Hirogen from Voyager are the only race I can think of that seemed to be physically stronger naturally.
>>64332688
>Does this guy know that?
You know Sam's brain is all "swiss cheese" after every leap
>>64332821
No it definitely was established that Vulcans are stronger from at least as far back as the Amok Time episode of TOS
>>64332821
Wrong.
Baseball episode of DS9.
>>64332821
False. Go watch TOS.
>>64316376
It suffered from the same problems as Andromeda. Instead of a "build the federation" plotline (or "rebuild the Systems Commonwealth" in Andromeda) they fucked around doing a million random things and then SUDDENLY in season 4 they've retroactively built the federation. We could have had some quality Trek diplomacy from them recruiting planets and races instead of The Expanse, Space Nazis and time travel fuckery.
>>64332978
Exactly.
>>64317187
TNG is pretty garbage the first two seasons.
imagine if all TNG got was three seasons.
>>64333315
>imagine if all TNG got was three seasons.
All those Trekfus... lost, in time... like... tears, in rain...
>>64333315
>TNG Season 2 is garbage
This meme needs to die.
>>64332856
>>64332880
This I didn't even know about.
>>64332869
I forgot about that until you said it.
I should go back and rewatch some stuff. please parden my ignorance.
>>64333461
We must abort this meme before it becomes a threat to the ship and its crew.
>>64333315
>the first two seasons of TNG are bad
Go away Reddit and or DS9 fan
>>64333461
>>64333595
are you guys just being ironic or what? season 1 had a couple good episodes like the ones with the Bynars(sp?) and a couple others but mostly it was shit.
season 2 is better for sure, but not up to what people say it is.
or are you just bandwagoner redditors who "like" all of TNG because the hivemind said so?it's okay to admit fault with things you like
>>64333566
If TNG Season 2 is actually good then what does that make it? I don't know! Do you? Do you???
>>64329161
i can believe it. we're used to seeing hot women liek her on tv but in real life- up close- her small size and chiseled features probably make her all the more attractive.
>>64329446
the doctor was crosseyed early in the series. then i think he wasnt. what gives?
>>64333315
Take note newfags: how to spot a redditor 101.

>>64333835
TOS, TNG, DS9 and Voyager are all non-canon.
Thanks Roberto.

why do liberals hate money so much?
Do liberals seriously not think there will never be some sort of wealth or credits based on time worked?
>>64335583
Liberals don't hate money, they hate profiteering on basic necessities of life such as food, water, housing, healthcare, education & the ecology. Things can still be sold but those should never be withheld from anyone due to some arbitrary notion that people in need of them don't deserve it because they didn't earn it by pulling themselves up by their bootstraps hard enough.
