have any of you stopped to consider that TFA doesn't seem as good as the original trilogy because you grew up and are now unsettlingly distant from your childhood and therefor detached from the innocence that lead to your love of star wars?
yes, of course
but I was also a kid when I watched the prequels and even then I knew they had a lot of problems, so it's not just nostalgia
Perhaps, but it's actually that TFA is hack ANH remake with a Mary Sue main character.

It's not as good because they didn't bother to explain anything that was going on. It was literally Mindless Exposition: The Movie
I was prepared for that but when I noticed all the same plot lines, thats when I lost my shit
>>64298036
Naw it just sucks
I loved it except for the fact that Harrison Ford forced Han's death. Perhaps I'm still underage at heart.
no, when kylo ren took his helmet off and got all emo thats when it was it for this anon
Yeah, I acknowledge that it's partly the case.
But ANH and ESB were objectively groundbreaking in many ways. The cinematography, score, special effects, and the sheer ambition of bringing a universe that large to reel format were objectively praiseworthy. Those movies also weren't subject to as many commercial (i.e. merchandizing and market segmentation) constraints as TFA.
Nah, best Star Wars movie in 32 years. Anyone that says different is either a teenager, edgy contrarian, or butthurt EU fanboy.

revenge of the sith was much better
>>64298472
Who cares if they were groundbreaking? By today's standards, they're bad movies. Extremely bad movies. At that time there were no standards for acting performances at all. The entire original trilogy looks and feels like a high school play. Horrible.

Yes. Realized I would've liked it even less if it wasn't a Star Wars movie. It was a mediocre film, dude.

>puppets for characters, toys moving in a dark room to simulate space flight
I can't get over how fucking bad every space scene in the original trilogy looks... it's hilarious. It's like you can see the room or something, the motion just looks so unnatural and bad. Awful movies for manchild neckbeard failures. Ground zero for that cringeworthy

George Lucas is disgusted with it's blandness

my love for SW is the actual pseudo science and SF, SF is not present in TFA and is remplaced with actual Fantasy

First learn to connect dots and do basic arithmetic, then maybe start working toward forming opinions of your own. Saying Fury Road and Boyhood weren't great movies only further reinforces my point. I understand that you don't possess the requisite intelligence to grasp that, let alone apply it to your decision-making.

pretty much this
>>64298095
Yeah, but there's an extent where, even as a kid, you realize something isn't as good.
I'm not too sure how any child can watch Attack of the Clones, and think, "Wow. This hour and half switch between Obi chasing the plot and Anakin flirting awkwardly sure is entertaining."
I have nieces and nephews who have seen the prequels, and for the most part, they hated them.

No.
It's far more likely that JJ just isn't as good at crafting an interesting story as Lucas was back in the 70's.

Anon don't.

I was never partial to the OT as a child anyway I had read better stories by the time I was (Orson Scott Card, Ray Bradbury, shit even J.K. Rowling). I was named after Luke Skywalker and I hated him the most because he was a short-sighted, selfish asshole (much like Harry Potter). My brother wanted to name me Chewbacca. What a life I could have lead.

How? His whole story was basically "muh friends" and "muh father."
