Why was the media of the entire country so fucking concerned about the disappearance of a comic writer in Missouri? Why would so many people assume the conclusion that a guy murdered his wife from the fact that he wasn't showing strong emotions in front of the camera after her disappearance? Why was the media as a whole represented as such a powerful, powerful, and dumb as fuck entity, to levels of complete lack of realism?

Are we expected to believe that the guy would rather live the rest of his life with a murderous psychopath as his wife than divorce her and risk being hated by the media? Are we expected to believe that it would ruin his life completely? The movie was great, but that ending was fucking shit.

Do you have, like, zero human interaction? Do you watch the news, at least the news in the US?

The media does this kind of shit all the time. In that regard, the movie is incredibly realistic.

He mostly stayed with her for his kid. Didn't he outright state that he didn't care if the media crucifies him for leaving?

I am pretty sure she was the daughter of the comic writer.
