Are there any movies that don't really have a plot, it's just like a certain period of someones life on screen and there's no real resolution or point to it?
The only thing I can think of that comes close is Donnie Darko.
Gunmo
Boyhood.

Burn After Reading.

Downfall
>>64286439
This.
Most Cohen movies feel like that.

Roger Dodger is a very good movie that is underrated and fits this mold.
The Comedy
The informers (a bunch of rich kids do stuff in the 80's)
Dogtooth (a family of Greeks are imprisoned in their home with bizarre world views)

Burn after reading is full of plot. It's just that the characters themselves aren't privy to the connections between and consequence of their actions.
Also, donnie darko has a plot. It's just understated in comparison to say a thriller or an action movie.
>tfw you people don't have a grip on the meaning of the word 'plot'.

Ken Park
>>64286329
have you seen a grand total of 10 movies in your life
>>64286944
Oh fuck off you stuck up twat you got my meaning.
Of course every film has a plot and shit happens, I was asking for movies where it's less about the setup and the struggle and the payoff and more about just daily life that doesn't matter.
>>64287171
No, I just have a bad memory and Donnie Darko was the first film that sprang to mind.
>>64286329
Salo
>>64286329
i think excision would probably strike you in a similar fashion. it is a deeply disturbing movie (at least to me) but it has a similar feel to what you are describing. it feels like there isnt really a "plot" per se, its just a story of a fucked up time in someones life.
Pic related
and High Fidelitykinda
the genre you're looking for is slice of life
>>64287216
Christ, Donnie Darko is not like that. You're a tard.
This is more your speed:

You're an auist, you fuck off this is my thread.

came to post Dazed and Confused
watch it op
>>64287379
And I guess for that matter, Fast Times at Ridgemont High and American Graffiti fit under slice of life toobut they aren't as good as DnC

If you can't articulate yourself well, expect people to fucking take you up on your bullshit.

Inside Llewyn Davis
>>64287679
Jesus christ you autist let it go. Why are you nitpicking fucking grammar when everyone in this thread got my point?
>>64288090
There is no point. Nothing ties the various films suggested together, other than the fact that they're not thrillers or action movies.
I was trying to rein in what it is you meant in order to turn this piece of shit thread into something more than a list of films people felt like posting.
You are officially the creator of a buzzfeed film list thread. The top 10 coolest films that are weird. Go watch more films and try again.
Lost in Translation.
I haven't seen it btw.
>>64288370
Calm down, take a deep breath, breath.
Calm? Now just close the tab to my thread and you'll be fine.
12 Years
>>64288090
I didn't understand your point. You're just retarded as fuck.
>>64288414
You should get on that. Beautiful movie
>>64288548
thank you.
Once. Feels very natural, they shot a lot of it in Dublin using longshots with improvized dialogue from the actors and real people.
There is a plot but the writer and director set out with something you could describe to friends in one sentence.
slacker? napoleon dynamite?

>>64288499
I hate sappy shit like that, I'm sick to death about hearing about slaves and oppressed women.
>>64288493
Honestly though. If you just took my initial criticism on board, and modified your thread's mission statement accordingly, we might have more than the pile of nonsense you've accumulated.
>>64288661
this movie is pretty gud but loses it's magic after 1st viewing and seems to become a little cheesy
>music though
>>64288760
Especially when you watch it with a friend who speaks Czech and they ruin that one scene for you by translating (I'd rather have not known).
But yeah, damn good soundtrack. I don't know anything about music, but it's nice to see a musical where it feels like the characters are learning the song together. They don't just spontaneously sing it, there's the part in the music shop where they're working it out together.
