How is this not the best movie of 2015 by far?
because at the end of the film you're left thinking "who the hell cares"
The cartel is NEVER leaving Mexico... I'll say it again, THEY ARENT GOING ANYWHERE THEY ARE MEXICO
>>64272822
That's the whole point of the movie, that the real people who are the problem are selfish Americans who can't stop using drugs the cartel supplies.
As someone who regularly does cocaine, it made me feel something
The best they can hope for is knowing who is in control and limiting the inevitable deaths that occur.
>>64272862
Cocaine is a shit drug
weed and psychs for me only
>>64272926
Well, that's like, your opinion man.
And it's pretty dumb.
>>64272775
Preguntas paisano, why keep making these threads, quieres morir?
>>64272926
weed makes you weird if you abuse it. It also makes you weird the more psychedelics you do because you get more self aware and awkward I feel.
What I would give to go back to my Sophomore year in college in my honeymoon days with weed.
It used to make me super confident and funny until I was literally high for 2-3 months in a row. Now it's not the same 2 years later.
>>64273008
Nah opiates/pills/powders/needles are very bad for you, it's a fact
drugs that expand your mind like psychs can shape you into a better more sincere person in the long run
>>64272775
victoria is the superior thriller of 2015
>>64272862
Or they could legalize the drugs. You don't see Budweiser employees decapitating the Coors guys.
I thought it was fine. Pretty good. I don't understand the fuss. Had some nice shots, especially around the raid on the tunnel.
what the government should do is make their own coke cane and flood the market with it to drive the price down and make it unprofitable for the gangs to deal so they focus on people trafficiking
and then the government start their own people trafficking

I wanted to like it but it was just a whole lot of nothing
>>64273030
Traffic was better tbqh
The only people who don't think it is are underage meme posters. The film goes over their heads and they don't understand it.
Emily Blunt's character annoyed me to no end
Cause it's shit.
So what did Alejandro do to quillermo with the watertank?
>>64276304
waterboarding plus some sexual assault i would assume
>>64272775
Even Blackhat was better.
>go into film thinking blunts character is going to be a feminist bad ass
>she's actually an idealist moron who gets her shit rektd 3 times
>>64276360
>blackhat
>good
I want this meme to end

Classic
>>64272775
Because the movie builds up to a thematic reveal that even the here-for-the-popcorn viewers already knew
>okay emily blunt it's time I let you know that the war on drugs is a neverending cycle and we'll make unethical comprimises to supress cartels instead of destroying them
NO SHIT. Also obvious was Del Toro's motives, but his nuanced performance redeems the character. Well the movie has a lot of redeeming features. The bridge scene is masterful, the score is terrifying, deakins is on point as usual.
It's an okay script that got elevated by superior production. Still couldn't save it from a lifeless ending.
>>64273655
i dont think he's talking about the high making things clearer. i've heard plenty of stories where a shroom/lsd trip was a turning point in someone's life and it actually got them to clean up their act.
>>64276406
Pleb detected. If you cant appreciate the nuance of mann, stick to star wars threads you young faggot.
WAAAAA WE HAVE TO TO THINGS RIGHT MUH LAW MUH JUSTICE WAAAAAAA -Kate for 2 hours and 20 minutes
If it wasnt for based Del Toro and based Donovan, this flick is actually Garbage
Does the Revenant count for 2015? Because that one is pretty good too.
>>64276699
No, your either a shitposter of the lowest order, or just an idiot. Blackhat is shit, so is Miami Vice. Thief is where its at.
>>64276388
>>she's actually an idealist moron who gets her shit rektd 3 times
Right, just because she's not a Merry Sew, it means she's not a feminist character. See: >>64268927
"You can put in any number of searches into Google and come up with a host of articles. There’s a tremendous amount of various blogs and writers in Mexico who have written some very poignant and tragic things about it."
—Sicario author Taylor Sheridan about researching Sicario
This is why, OP.
>>64273090
This, a hundred times over. It's exactly the same thing in the inner cities, it's the root problem in American "police brutality," and people still don't fucking get it. The law of supply and demand ALWAYS WINS. All we've managed to do is create a whole shitstorm of violence around an industry that we cannot actually stop. If it wasn't illegal, they wouldn't be murdering/intimidating witnesses and they couldn't be murdering each other
AHORA
>>64272775
For me, it is

traffic was preachy moralizing garbage
>>64272775
You sure uploaded the wrong pic, here fixed
>>64278791
Look at it in the context of its times. All movies seem outdated morally and preachy after more than a decade. Sicario isn't far with it's "hurr durr look what a shithole Mexico is, isn't that awful?", but I'm not interested that much in the film's politics or morals as I am in it's and aesthetic structure and dynamics.
>>64273080
victoria was shit as fuck
>kids itt think legalizing hard drugs in america and 3rd world countries is even an option

I thought blunt was going to be the badass. Instead we got Ersatz-Brad Pitt.
>a human character faces inhumanity
Brilliant film, MOTY hands down
>get latin actor
>he speaks broken spanish
>every other mexican extra speaks like they normally do
why is this still a thing? specially in gritty and ''realistic'' cartel movies?
