It was funnier when I was 14 but it might hold up if you've never been exposed to the Ali G show. But I would actually recommend watching the Borat Ali G clips. The movie is far more scripted and its a lot more noticeable when you're no longer a kid which makes it less funny. My friends and I quoted the movie throughout high school.
It was hysterical when it came out. It's aged poorly though due to all of its best lines being ran into the ground by fans referencing it.
The scenes in Atlanta are pretty much the funniest scenes in movie history.
It is absolutely amazing comedy.
They should have ditched the whole Pamela Anderson back story and majorly scripted things like the bear.
Outside of that, incredible film and it was a real shame when they tried to do the same with The Dictator and Bruno

I always find the first half of movies like this funny, and then halfway through or so they change the tone a bit and I like them a lot less. If you're going to make a stupid funny movie I think you should just keep it that way through the entire thing.

It was innovative and clever when it came out, but both time and over exposure have taken their toll it's style of humor, spectacle, and gimmicks. Still, I can appreciate it as a product of it's time and for how influential it was to comedy as a whole.
Without it, we might not have got a show like Nathan for You.

It's one of the few patrician comedies from recent years, alongside Black Dynamite and the OSS117 series.
The best comedies are stylistically interesting and politically incorrect.
Also Burn After Reading. Not haha funny, but it will age well. Wes Anderson's films can be considered comedies too, but his sense of humor is mostly deadpan and charming.
Wolf of Wall Street is an excellent comedy, but so well made and depressing that most people won't think to mention it in comedy threads.
As far as pleb comedies go, Tropic Thunder has some merits. Hot Rod and McGruber have their moments despite tired formulas and uninspired filmmaking. For all the shits /tv/ likes to take on modern SNL, they still produce some decent talent from time to time, digital shorts were pretty consistantly creative and Will Ferrel/Adam McKay's best films are the best post-SNL products since Myers did Austin Powers. Walk Hard is probably the best film to come out of the whole Apatow trend.
I don't care for Edgar Wright but at least he tries to be visual with his comedy.
