This is interesting actually. Can this sub agree on this? I'm not even a huge anime fan, I've watched a few series, including this + EoE, but I mostly watch western shit. EoE is possibly in my top 5 of all time, definitely favourite animated.

Yes. It's deconstruction of entertainment in general not just mecha anime.At the end when it literally shows the audience in a mirror and tells you that you only watch TV and Movies because you're trying to fill a void in your life and you're probably a lonely fuck.
