From what I've picked up, the crusaders during that specific crusade sacked and butchered countless innocent people. Which pissed off a lot of people and gave the crusades a bad name.
Saladin was alright. Also they weren't really, just some foolhardy crusaders, but the other crusaders were looked at in a good light

Moral relativity and modern media bias. Hollywood's trying to rewrite history any way they can to continue the ongoing narrative that The WEST IS BAD AND WILL ALWAYS BE BAD. The fact is, without the Crusades giving the West breathing room, The Ottoman Empire would have rolled up a disorganized Europe like a cheap rug.
The crusades were originally there to allow for pilgrimages to make it to Jerusalem without being harassed or killed by Muslims as well as help support what was left of the East Roman Empire.
Instead it was called antisemitic because Jews, Muslims, and even Christians were slaughtered when Jerusalem refused to surrender when first targeted, this was in according with the rules of warfare of the time.
In current times the crusades are used in propaganda pieces by Islamic extremists to portray the west. The irony is that the crusaders were forgotten and ignored by the Muslim world until the 20th century when a German Emperor made a pilgrimage to Saladin's grave (who was regarded highly by the west as being chivalrous and an amazing commander but ignored in the Arab/Muslim world since he was a Kurd). Saladin's grave was ignored and fell on hard times until a German Emperor paid to repair it. Later Saladin was used to strengthen Arab nationalism despite being a Kurd.

Last time I saw that movie the muslims were the antagonists, Saladin and Balian's arab friend the only ones being nice (but ultimately in the bad side) and there's scenes with literal rabid muslims going full allah akbar before the battle. On the other hand, the Kingdom of Jerusalem is shown as a perfect tolerant society free of hate led by the good king Balduin. Only a minority of disgusting bigoted individuals want war (unlike the muslims that are shown as a threat from second zero) and indeed war starts when this minority comes to power ruining everything for everyone.
