The EU was generally consistent if you actually payed attention, which is why they were able to publish official Chronologies and guidebooks that made quick sense of the canon and why each book had a timeline at a certain point that told you when it generally took place. Disney shills want you to believe there's tons of contradictions, but most contradictions were pretty quickly fixed by the guys Lucas put in charge of the Holocron.
