In the midst of last year’s Sony hack, one rather interesting snippet of news concerned the possible merging of the Jump Street and Men in Black film franchises. Seriously, I’m not kidding. Jump Street directors Phil Lord and Chris Miller have spoken out about the rumored project several times. According to Miller, it’s a concept “that makes you think.” Head-scratching hilarity aside, it looks like this fever dream of a movie might actually happen.
Two different bits of news regarding the Jump Street franchise broke this week. The first is a female-driven film written by Broad City writers Lucia Aniello and Paul Downs. The second? TheWrap reports the wheels are turning for the crossover film, and… the wheels aren’t square-shaped:
“21 Jump Street” took aim at reboots, while “22 Jump Street” targeted sequels, so it makes sense that the next “Jump Street” movie will send-up the current trend of Shared Movie Universes by having Jonah Hill and Channing Tatum enter the “Men in Black” universe and investigate aliens.

I don't even really like bothering to pirate sony movies anymore since they started putting the cinaviewer shit on their movies.
Like to stick movies on flashdrives and watch em on my ps3 but if it detects its a sony movie it mutes the movie every 20 minutes and the only way around it is to quit back out to the menu and change the date forward a year and some hours every time it does it.
Does anyone actually think it will have anything more going for it other than they're women? I don't even think that would be the worst part because no doubt it would be just as bad if they were men. Ghostbusters and other 80s horror comedies were able to perfectly strike the balance between horror and comedy nobody can even come close to anymore. I bet the movie won't even have any horror elements at all in it and will be just straight up action, but I don't know how they would do that either since the actual act of capturing ghosts is pretty boring. They just stand there and zap ghosts until they're ready to put out the trap. What made the old movies exciting was the tension and build up to them capturing ghosts. That sort of thing would be completely lost on audiences nowadays.

I get that it's a film and cartoon you liked as a kid -- I liked it, too -- but this is just lousy. This is worse than the Transformers movies because at least those movies sort of have Transformers in those movies. At least TMNT had turtles in it. This is just shit.
