Early this year Disney created an update for KOTOR II on Steam.
KOTOR II is ELEVEN YEARS OLD. There was literally no reason for them to pay money to have it fixed to work on MAC, Linux, and Windows 7+ and give it steam workshop support.
The events that happened on Malachor V play a key role the story of KOTOR II.
Kylo Ren's lightsaber uses designs dating back to the "Great Scourge of Malachor".
Hell even Kylo's clothing is clearly inspired by Revan. Which I assume is because JJ is confirmed for playing videogames even going as far as that potential homage to Kojima with C3P0's red arm. He probably played KOTOR when he was younger.
It's clear that Disney is setting something up to tie in KOTOR I and II, but I doubt they're going to take in the story of that abomination of SWTOR. I'm guessing Snoke is one of Darth Treya's secret apprentices? Or Snoke eats the force like Darth Nihilus?

The reason there was an update is because Aspyr finally got the rights to port it to mac and linux. They probably also fixed up the windows version on steam to support widescreen resolutions.

That's almost certainly a coincidence. I know the two of them know eachother, but Star Wars went into production long before the Phantom Pain came out.
