kotor 1 & 2 are better stories than the films, they are inevitably similar in their premise but have infinitely better writing, characters and are able to flesh out their stories and the entire universe due to the length of each title. films and tv do have the potential to match video games in immersion but i can't see it ever happening for the star wars universe, despite the massive potential for it, and the desire for it.

The story in Star Wars is pretty much irrelevant. This entire franchise has become popular (and important to pop-culture) because of extensive use of well done special effects, simple but entertaining story and the original ideas (even if many of them were borrowed from pulp stories).
