John Williams didn't score the Force Awakens. Big name composers like Williams, Howard ashore, and Danny Elfman just use assistants who write up 90% of the score based on "musical ideas" by the composer
There was one score where the only contribution by Howard Shore was literally just him humming what the main themes should be, and his assistants going off and writing a score based around that

I prefer ROTJ from ESB
ESB is a good movie but it feels flat. It hasn't any low points but in my opinion it also hasn't any especially hight points.
ROTJ on the other hand has some really low points, like the scene where they are captured by the Ewoks and C3PO narrates the story-so-far. But the high points like the final space battle, the Luke vs Vader fight are so visually spectacular and emotional that make ROTJ an amazing film if you are mature enough to look past the bad points and admire the good.
