Who else here is awaiting the golden age of /who/, when we will be banned from /tv/ and forced to leave for /trash/?
>/trash/ is a much slower board, so /who/ threads will stay alive a lot longer
>/trash/ has forced anonymity, so there will be no tripfags like cats or FNA shitting up our general
>/trash/ is full of nice people, we won't be bothered by /tv/ shitposters like the >>>/tumblr/ guy and the other assorted faggots who occasionally visit us here
>/trash/ is a hidden board, so it won't be as easy as it is now to find /who/, which means that new users will be a bit more experienced and not complete newfags

Er, it sort of was. Everyone liked the talky side of Woman, that was great, but the actual plot side (let alone the 'comedy') wasn't even well directed let alone well written. One gets the sense that it was all added in through a weary sense of obligation rather than actual enthusiasm.
Remember that whole bit where they're just slowly crawling around some asshole's room at night and trying to hide from him? Literally televisual void space.
Like I don't hate the episode, but it's definitely less competent as Doctor Who than its counterpart (which at least has the decency to not become bored with itself).

>yfw Moffat leaves gracefully after a fairly well received series 10 and sets everything up nicely for his successor, the acclaimed dramatist Peter Harness.

Honestly I kind of hope they change up the whole 'showrunner' model and the way the show is run after Moffat leaves. Moffat hasn't found his Moffat (as in, dedicated writer with TV running experience who regularly outperforms him for his entire era) because people like that do not simply turn up every day. The show has relied for 10 years on basically having one of the two exec producers as the dynamo creative lord of fucking everything, writing a shitload of wildly different episodes as well as recruiting everyone and making sure it doesn't blow up, while the other one is basically their co-conspirator. I don't know if you could maintain that if you just tried to slot Whithouse (or indeed ANY of the potential candidates) into the Moffslot and run business as usual.

I don't want to give anyone any ideas but there are much more annoying ways to make oneself identifiable and since it's a "random", nsfw board it's much less likely anything could be done about it. It's kind of out of the frying pan into the fire. /who/ nose though, could be fun. Not being bound by exclusively work safe content and images would be nice. Last years hiatus we has a contingent of about 30 core /who/res or /who/lligans. If we can keep that number we'd be fine anywhere.

I'm reposting this from Reddit but I think it could help some anons here confused about the timeline of the River audios:

" I'm now certain that it was their intent to put it after The Husbands of River Song.
As you'll see here[1] ,
In the first part, River has her sonic trowel from The Husbands of River Song.
In the second part, River has a sonic screwdriver. It would kind of ruin the emotional weight if she already had a different one in The Husbands of River Song.
In the third part, River is comfortable with the idea that the Doctor has more bodies than One-Eleven. In fact, she speculates that it's down to her giving him regeneration energy in Let's Kill Hitler. In The Husbands of River Song, she won't even consider the idea and doesn't realize Twelve is the Doctor."

Ah of course. Makes perfect sense. Kind of weird to think there's about 30 generally swimming about here; feels like more. I wonder how many listen to Big Finish.

Also you said earlier you were hype for River audios and I forgot to respond: I'm the anon who talked down the War Doc audios to you and I have to say, the River audios are legit good. Feel free to get hype. They're not like Scherzo level good, but the 3rd story is legit gold and easily the best BF story of the year, and the others are all highly competent, moreso than the general "pretty good" of UNIT Extinction.

I still prefer the Torchwood audios because I personally like em better and like the cast better, but the River ones are very solid. Great stuff.

I've been coming here solidly since 2013, I post a lot, and occasionally there are some moments of recognition even through the anon-ness (usually by Cloister who recognises me saying something). I've considered tripping before because yeah, I feel like I'm enough a "part of /who/" as dumb as that sounds, but I just really don't like the idea of tripping personally.

I've tripped in /got/ before when I had actual reason to and nobody complained, I always turned off the trip after it wasn't needed anymore. I just feel like the whole board culture means having a trip doesn't make sense.

/who/ pushes toward more traditional forum at times with the number of trips, the low amount of posters (30ish) and the general agreed vibe, but idk, I can't bring myself to trip. Like you, I feel being anon is good and the way to go.

I'm a shut in too anon and /who/ more or less is the limit of my social interaction aside from the rare belle posting in gif or shitposting in joe rogan threads. Lurking other threads on /tv/, /diy/,/out/,/qa/ and /x/ with even rarer jaunts to the other boards. Being anonymous affords you a ton of freedom and makes you an equal among anons. Tripping up while fun shackles you to your statements at the same time discounting them. Glad you like it here in /who/. They're a pretty lovable bunch desu. Always feels like home to me.

Good set-up. Here's my critiques:

-needs a spelling and grammar check

-probably should make it in past tense. Present tense can be awkward

-when you write"Although this incarnation...comforting", it would be better to write it with a comma at the beginning, and connected to the next sentence. Also, it would be better to show rather than tell.

Good parts:

-you get across 12 and Clara. They feel in-character.

I love 12's giddiness at meeting an Angel, and annoyance that Clara is not as excited. And the scene with the recording is creepy.

All in all, it's a good foundation. Needs a serious grammar and spelling check, but I look forward to seeing you continue.

Good parts

Nice thought.

>Doesn't it hurt your eyes/head? Isn't it hard to follow a conversation there?

Actually the format of Leddit is why I keep going back to it. I love how it's formatted. I find it extremely intuitive. I know I might be an outlier. But the way you can collapse conversations is infinitely more enjoyable to me than traditional forum+4chan way of just having post come after post chronologically.

>Is there a way to disable the upvoting and downvoting?

You can sort threads by "new" or "old" comments which makes it more like a normal forum. But you can't turn off karma wholesale.

>Is it that hard to discern popular opinion without it?

Whole function of the site means few people will post very contrary opinions particularly to fan subs like gallifrey

>Don't they have an active moderation staff? Why?

They do and honestly they're decent, it's just that if you throw out any non reddit approved opinion then you're likely to get mauled. Ocassionally you'll be fine. I've been downvoted heavily for critiquing Whithouse before, but the other day I actually got quite upvoted for it so it sways.

The lodger was boring and stupid for me. The 11th playing Football (Soccer), almost as bad as the 5th playing cricket.

The Doctor's Wife definitely wins over The Lodger, although I personally find Vincent and The Doctor comfy.

I don't see any problem with the Doctor playing sports.

The only problem with it in Black Orchid is that the cricket match is filmed from really far away and the camera never moves.

The Doctor's Wife has multiple scenes of Amy and Rory being psychologically tortured by House and all kinds of creepy grim shit. It's in no way comfy at all.

This
comfy episodes are ones that largely take place in the one location (roald dahl plass, coal hill etc) and have a relatively light hearted tone even though ultimately there is still conflict with a monster
>>
>>64224197
no
>>
>>64225996
Yeah, Boom Town is probably one of the best examples here. Despite the relatively dark plot and everything going on it's largely set in the TARDIS, with some nice dim lighting, and features a lot of interesting character interaction between the full series 9 crew.

The soundtrack also really helps with all the nice moody violin bits https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MgYL5vV4X_E

and the lodger wasn't comfy for because i had no connection to Craig or Sofie. There wasn't enough character development for me to get a connection, sorry just not enough. The concept and the end development of The Doctor's Wife was fantastic The Doctor finally talking to The T.A.R.D.I.S, how fucking awesome is that.

anyway there is nothing comfy in seeing your crush being sucked of life either. I also find Craig and Sofie a little cringey anyway.

Don't all fandoms have segments of self loathing? You hear it here alot at least. Anons shitting on cosplayers and the like. The only thing you're guilty of is association. Whatever they do it really harms no one then themselves and if someones willing to condemn you for an association of a fandom, they're probably not worth your time. Some folks probably take it too far, but /who/ cares. They're enjoying themselves, everyone should. By the way i should mention I loathe the word fandom itself, however it seemed the most appropriate. fuck. Full disclosure a Dr. Whooves funko vinyl figure reeeeeeeeeesides in my DW collection. I can't get that excited about anything either. If anything it's nice to kind of live vicariously through the more flamboyant fans. >"Hi there Doctor Who fans,

>For many it’s a highlight of Christmas TV, and this year the much loved River Song was back to join the Doctor (in the last survey you revealed she’s the fans second favourite New Who companion, Donna easily nabbed the first prize!)."

>As I recall, this question was asked among questions regarding what type of person I would like to see as the next companion so it's not too much of a stretch to think that they were trying to discern what type of companion would be preferred by fans. I was given the option of choosing up to two out the "New Who" companions as my favorites. The choices were Rose, Mickey, Jack, Martha, Donna, River, Amy, Rory and Clara.

Nah m8, by this time in 2013 and 2014, read through for the first filming block had already taken place, meaningbthey had 2 episodes completely written and they had 2 more episodes in the final writing stages. It's not happening, sorry. Maybe and that's a big maybe, filming will start as soon as March depending on if actors, crew and scripts are available but even then that'd be a stretch.

Get into the audios or EU to discuss with /who/ during the hiatus?
>>64228906
I generally don't wear my DW stuff out in public, but Belle sure the hell does. Usually an item a day, earrings, necklace, or a tee. She's always getting approached by other fans. Which is kind of annoying at times. Not that they want to talk about doctor who, but that they're there and want to talk period.

I didn't thank you anon. I still don't see it and no i've been looking at a poster for the better part of an hour like an idiot and now I'm convinced I've been rused.

I've listened to River's audios in a night. I intend to listen to Ten's audios but they're coming in forever. Can't be bothered to listen McGann's. I'll go with the comics.
