I liked Thief, Heat and The Collateral
I didn't like Manhunter and Miami Vice
Should I download this one?
>>64208969
Nope. It's fucking shit.
>didn't like Manhunter
Oh, you'll LOVE Blackhat, then!
Michael Mann is one of the most inauthentic filmmakers working today.
If you want your cinema to be both action-packed and not drenched in pseudo-irony, I suggest watching some Michael Bay.
>>64208969
No my mane, I love all Mann's films but Blackhat is crap, it might of worked without Thor but in it's current state it's shit.
>>64208969
Is Blackhat Mann's magnum opus, the summary of his career? He continues the digital experimentations he started with Collateral and Miami Vice, but thematically it goes back to his early films, like Thief (characters: the dinner scene & protagonist marked by his jail time, theme: the crime stays the same, only the tools change) and Manhunter (procedural investigation, lawful side needing the help of a jailed criminal to arrest a similar criminal), all while orchestrating a mid-film virtuoso set piece that rivals Heat's (his mainstream and trademark "masterpiece").

Watch it, you might like it. Just get into it, don't pay attention to the anons in this thread. Make your own judgement...
... And if you will, make a thread about it. It's always cool to discuss Mann's films on /tv/

How could anyone not like Manhunter?
Skip this one.

I like this post
It reads like a film school student who just read his first textbook on the course
>>64209128
It's definetely a step beyond in the digital experimentation road. Mann really stretches it with this film

It's better than Mad Max: Fury Road.
Take that as you will.
Also if you're downloading it you have nothing to lose except your time, which can't be that valuable if you're spending it asking questions here.

>I liked Thief, Heat and The Collateral
His pleb movies
>I didn't like Manhunter and Miami Vice
His patrician movies.
Blackhat is the most advanced film released this year so don't even try.
>>64208969
>I liked the pleb stuff but when shit got real (Miami Vice) I didn't like it
Blackhat is too much for you
>>64208969
>he didin't like manhunter and miami vice.
go watch nolan films pleb.
I couldn't find a 1080p rip of Miami Vice's theatrical cut and I ended up a literal YIFY rip instead. Maybe that's why I didn't like it.
I still can't find the theatrical in higher quality though.
haha of all the movies, finally sat down and watched this today...it barely kept my attention, acting seemed really subdued and the story was so slow moving (and not in a good way). by the end, we got a limp finale and I was just like, whatever...even Chris Hemsworth lost all charisma
>>64209944
>Didn't see bluray of Miami Vice
Dear lord what are you doing that movie looks gorgeous in bluray, both versions of it, pure visual ecstasy
>>64209944
Damn dude you dun fucked up
You might want to search for Miami.Vice.2006.DTS.ITA.ENG.1080p.BluRay.x264-BLUWORLD in the big open trackers or just go to Rutracker and get the full bluray
>>64210222
Rutracker only has the director's cut BRs
>>64210323
Bluworld is theatrical, it does not have the opening boat sequence IIRC.
might still be alive somewhere in the public trackers, good luck and godspeed
Mann keeps making small art films marketed as big action flicks.
>>64210371
Well I figure Blackhat cost a bunch to make, locations + Hemsworth.
Good movie, very underrated because it didn't pander to preset expectations. Weak casting of foreigners maybe is an issue.
>>64208969
Blackhat is about "hacking" so every retard here likes it.
>>64210222
bottom right made my dick hard
literally the aesthetics of freedom and zen
>>64210592
There was no freedom in that scene. There was no freedom in the movie. Hell the colors are all sad and gloomy in the final picture, how can it represent peace of mind and zen to you
Misinterpreting much?
>>64208969
black hat is a piece of shit.
even worse than public enemies was.
maybe even worse than Miami vice but I would need to watch it again to be sure.
>>64210721
Man I remember when I unironically thought like this
>third greatest kinema of the 21st century
>should I watch it
Star Wars tourists need to go.
